This part is purely conjecture but Ricky Martin is really ****ing famous and I still think you'll sell more tickets with a decently famous Eva than you do with a superstar Che. Who's going to sit through Evita solely for Che!? Not even Ricky could protect Elena Roger and the overall production from the ambivalence of the public. It's like getting Hugh Jackman to play Herbie. Sure, you'll sell some tickets but it's not gonna become a true smash without a Rose that can generate some buzz. Nature of a star vehicle."

Totally agree. Does she have the powerhouse vocals for this? And able to sustain it? Maria is a totally different kind of character. I think the Ricky Martin revival would have done well had they cast a powerhouse for Eva, but they went for the acting approach, which works on film, but I think in live theater it's what we've come to expect.

Well Rachel is an incredible singer, Beanie was… well we know.

If she is talking about Evita then I’m not convinced she won’t be Young Eva. Was the Mistress played by Young Eva in the first production because if not I could see that being the case here.

Just not sure this gives me “hit” vibes. And I’m not sure she’s going to have the momentum behind her like she thinks it will. But love an Evita and it’s not my money!
