I wonder, if it's EVITA, if Cannold would change it to just be one Eva, as opposed to the split from the NYCC version in order to make it make more sense with Zegler's age and youthful appearance.

Do you think The Notebook is Broadway-bound?"
Based on the Chicago tryout it is definitely broadway-bound. I’d hope they don’t change the cast though, everyone in it in chicago was perfect.

One of the leads just joined the Moulin Rouge tour so.. not sure what that says. I liked "the Notebook" in Chicago, but i'd not invest in it. It def need some structural work.

Cannold has already said that it will just be one Eva in this upcoming production.
That makes the most sense to me. She would be incredible. Lovely voice. "
According to the announcement of the "La La Land" adaptation, it said the adaptation was "in the works"; per the article, "no timeline or cast" has been announced. The announcement reads as though they've assembled the team, and work was about to commence. It seems to be quite aways off from any actual production, so I strongly doubt this could be what Ms. Zegler is teasing.
John Cardoza has been attached to a lot of in the works projects recently, having done the Notebook and Karate Kid in the same season. I wouldn't be surprised if he signed onto the Moulin tour for a few months. A 6 month contract would be done around September, Notebook is rumored for Fall. I could see him leaving Moulin and being available for a Notebook run starting in late October or November.
Confirmed my own question, Zegler did indeed participate in The Notebook during workshops. They are certainly coming to Broadway next season, they are just waiting for a theatre to be available.
LMAO At her big fans being like "get her Tony ready"...hun, that's not how it works. I hope none of you are the fans saying that. Like-you don't just get a Tony because of who you are. I know she's talented, yes, I can agree with that. But just because someone talented is coming to Broadway does not equal Tony.
I am only directing this at her biggest "stans" who are saying this. I know none of you have.
DC's Shakespeare Theatre Co. will produce Cannold's production of EVITA in "2023-2024" following the A.R.T. production. I wonder if Zegler is attached to both? It would seem odd for someone of her level to do do two different regional tryouts of a revival. No dates or casting.

Assuming this arrives on Broadway next spring with Zegler, this might be a good fit for the Majestic (will it be renamed for Hal Prince?) after about a yearlong renovation.
Also, Evita's run may just serve as a bridge to the incoming cheap Phantom remount, back at its old stomping ground.
If this revival is starting at the ART and STC, I would assume they're aiming for a smaller house than the Majestic. Especially since the last revival (now more than 10 years ago) had such trouble selling tickets.

I said it. I'm all over social media proclaiming it! I'm sorry, I get a bit carried away with things! I must contain my over-exuberant excitement. It's a flaw of mine. I'm sorry.

The Ricky Martin revival didn't do so well and immediately closed when he left. Would Zegler fair any better?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
She's not a name at all. So no. I'd actually love to see a John Doyle (and I love production value, so this is weird for me) production of Evita. i think the music and story are so good. I'd love to see a very simple staging. Same with Sunset.
Zegler is not currently a name but this production is basically betting on her becoming one. Assuming it plays regional this summer and comes to Broadway next fall, all three of her upcoming films will be out. Shazam 2 this spring, Hunger Games this fall (I think?), and the Snow White live action film next spring. Obviously nothing is ever guaranteed to happen but if it works the way they want it to, it's smart producing.
This part is purely conjecture but Ricky Martin is really ****ing famous and I still think you'll sell more tickets with a decently famous Eva than you do with a superstar Che. Who's going to sit through Evita solely for Che!? Not even Ricky could protect Elena Roger and the overall production from the ambivalence of the public. It's like getting Hugh Jackman to play Herbie. Sure, you'll sell some tickets but it's not gonna become a true smash without a Rose that can generate some buzz. Nature of a star vehicle.
The rumor is that it is indeed Evita. A couple of clues: She reposted the announcement of the run at A.R.T, her current bio on Twitter says “welcome to the gutter theatrical” and she also posted..
