There's also an offer for $35 orchestra seats out there.

Looks like Radio Golf won't be the second play in August Wilson's cycle to break even on Broadway. I was anticipating stronger sales considering the publicity surrounding his death and this being the New York premiere of the final play in the series.
These are great plays. It's a shame that none of them outside of Fences made/will make any money. Oh well.

I saw it in Chicago, and it is an amazing show and story. Everyone should go and see this show and support more plays on Broadway. August Wilson is a genious.
Wouldn't it be a lovely surprise if this one was a hit with the critics, held on until the Tonys, and won August Wilson his second and final Tony Award for Best Play?

Good point, Foster. This could be the sentimental favorite. We'll most likely have Coast of Utopia, Coram Boy, Frost/Nixon and Radio Golf. Radio Golf would be the only American play...
My guess is that there will not be rush since balcony seats are $31.25. But hey, if they're offering a $35 discount code, who knows? They may end up offering rush just to get people in the seats.

If word of mouth takes off with this show (and given the brilliance of Wilson, (along with the fact that Tonya Pinkins in cast) good chance it could. They might not need to fill many seats each night.
I hope not. I am REALLY pulling for this show to do well !
At this price, there is absolutely no reason to not go.

If the show isn't capitalized at an astromical amount then it could be possible for them to recoup the investment or at least break even with $35 and $42.50 ticket prices as long as they play to sold out houses. I think they are trying to insure some ticket sales especially since the show is over 3 hours long and at the Cort. Shows, plays in particular that run east of Broadway seem to have a tougher time with ticket sales. It's been a long time since the Cort has seen a hit. It's just so difficult to get people to come see anything that's longer than two and a half hours these days, especially a play.
umm...the show is definitly NOT 3 hours. i even checked on broadway.com and it says, "How Long? 2 hours and 25 minutes, one intermission" the show is not hard to sit through either.
A third and final Pulitzer Prize would also be a great tribute.

At one point, word on the street was that the play was over 3 hours long. As far as it not being hard to sit through, that's probably just your opinion. Not everyone is like you. For todays audiences 2 hours 25 minutes is a long time to sit through a play. It won't be a long time for true theatre lovers or for anyone who has been anticipating this production. However, more times than not if you listen really closely the first question you will hear from some of your fellow audience members is, "How long is this?" or "What time is this over?" You're right, Bobby. I suppose it depends on whether Wilson submitted it that year, which I'm assuming he did. So it probably had its chance at Pulitzer eligibility.
