Restaurant Recomendations near Circle in the Sq, Winter Garden & Marquis?

We are doing a girls' weekend and coming to NYC in two weeks. We are seeing Fun Home, School of Rock and On Your Feet. Looking for recommendations for dinner near the Circle in the Square. Appetizers and drinks ( or maybe dinner) near the Winter Garden. And finally Lunch ( and maybe drinks & apps after) near the Marquis Theater. Looking forward to seeing these shows and we would like to be in a short walking distance to the theaters. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like an awesome trip!

Near Circle in the Square/Winter Garden (on/near 50th & Broadway), I may highly suggest Lillie's Times Square (on 49th b/w Bway & 8th), Motherburger or Blockheads (on 49th/50th b/w 8th & 9th). For a more formal dinner setting or something a bit more fancy, try Serafina at the Time Hotel (49th b/w Bway & 8th). For something more laid back with appetizers and some drinks, try Social Grill & Bar (8th Ave., b/w 48th & 49th), The House of Brews (51st b/w 8th & 9th) or Playwright Tavern (on 7th b/w 48th & 49th).

For options closer to the Marquis, Junior's Restaurant is practically right outside, reasonably priced and has breakfast, lunch and dinner - and it's good! It's on 45th St. right in Shubert Alley. Personally I could never tire of it. In addition to Junior's, I'd also suggest either John's Pizzeria or Carmine's (both a bit more sit-down and formal, and both on 44th St.) or City Kitchen, a brand-new food court style place (on 8th Ave. b/w 44th & 45th) for a more quick, laid back lunch.

Hope this helps!

All of the theaters you are going to are within a 5 block radius of each other, and they're close to many good restaurants. 9th Avenue/Restaurant Row is right up the block. It would be helpful to know what kind of food your party is -- or isn't -- interested in, price range, etc.

If you are thinking of Juniors at a popular time, allow time to get in. There is often a large wait and a huge crowd. The food is good but for me, not worth the wait.

If you are looking for a burger place near On Your Feet - Goodburger at 9th Ave and 45th Street. John's pizzeria is good...also sometimes a wait.

I like some of the quieter smaller restaurants on 9th Avenue...such as Empanada Mama on 9th and 51st?(I think). You can order a little or a lot - and it's very reasonable...and you can get a lot of variety there. There are a lot to pick from on 9th Ave -less touristy than 8th and below.

I always recommend Trattoria Trecolori, 254 W 47th St. Great Italian food, very reasonable prices. Reservations strongly recommended.

If you're really hungry and don't mind spending a little more, Churrascaria Plataforma, 316 West 49th St, is terrific. Brazilian steakhouses are a unique dining experience. Allow plenty of time here.

I really appreciate everyones input. Since it is a weekend, I think we would feel better at places that take reservations. Definitely nothing touristy, would like a nice atmosphere, possibly trendy/ cool NY vibe, some atmosphere, but not insane prices. Hopefully not too noisy, since this is a reunion and we would like to be able to hear each other. Open to all types of food, Before FH ( Circle ), would like a full dinner Friday night. Saturday we are having a later lunch, so we would like maybe something trendy w/ an assortment of good apps before SOR ( Winter Garden). Sunday Lunch/ Brunch before OYF ( Marquis), apps & drinks after before heading back. BTW- We come from Boston, also meeting friends from NJ and a newer NYC resident. Can't Wait!

It sounds like you want something somewhat fancy, chique and trendy, not a hole in the wall. If that is the case, for your Fun Home or School of Rock days I agree with the previous poster ...... La Masseria. http://lamasserianyc.com/

For your On Your Feet day I would recommend Lamb's Club http://www.thelambsclub.com/ or The Hunt and Fish Club http://www.huntandfishnyc.com

Second Toloache and add Ippudo (both very close to your theaters).

If you want to spend a tad bit more money...I would also highly recommend Oceana.

Slightly afield from where you are but 15 minutes walking is the Modern, Ma Peche and Fuku+

Happy eating!

I want to thank everyone for all your wonderful recommendations. I only wish we had time to try them all! I sent the link of responses to my friend and let her pick, since I had picked the shows, so don't blame me for not sampling your recommendation.

For the record, We had dinners at Trattoria Trecolor and Thalia, plus brunch at Glass House Tavern.

We were thrilled with all. They took reservations, great food and ambiance, at a comfortable price point. The Locations took the stress out of getting to the shows on time.

FYI- Loved all the shows- Fun Home Friday, School of Rock Saturday, On your Feet Sunday! Left NYC on such a high. Can't wait to come back. Only glitch, Next time I'll ask for parking recommendations. Parked on 45th behind the Marquis. Took an hour to get my friend from NJ's car!
