Totally disagree with Riedel and think that THE LYONS will get that Best Play slot
The critics and everyone who I talked throughly enjoyed the show - and loved Linda Lavin
And I'm hoping that GHOST gets the Best Musical nomination over SPIDER MAN.

Posted: 4/28/12 at 12:34amThe Lyons will be represented by Linda Lavin, I'd say. I really can't see it knocking off any other play- even though Peter and the Starcatcher had the weakest reviews compared to the other contenders, it's selling better and has very positive word-of-mouth and love from the community.

Re: Funny Girl. I wish the producers for Leap of Faith had invested that revival. At least we would have heard Jule Styne's fabulous score.
About Jan Maxwell. I love her but the second time I saw Follies, I wasn't as taken with her performance, particularly her delivery of Could I Leave You?
Not sure how will take the Best Actress in a Musical this year.

Posted: 4/28/12 at 9:32ambwayphreak, I was thinking the same thing last night as it was the show I was most excited about this season. But of course how can one speculate about how good it and Ambrose would have been. While I was highly optimistic, many people weren't. And it's been a season of such disappointments on so many levels, one of the lessons to take resonates with the age old theatrical mainstay of risk and uncertainty; which is of course what makes the business so exciting and volatile.

Posted: 4/28/12 at 9:42amThat's really hard to decide....its really the road less traveled right? We can hardly guess what MIGHT have happened. Most of us wewre excited about Evita and were left disappointed -- who knows what would have happend with Funy Girl.
