It’s the same thing just on a bigger stage so they can spread out more. Otherwise it’s exactly the same show.

Something random but I also really like that they play medieval covers of songs as you enter. It took my friend and I a while to clock the fact that they were playing Lizzo

I was given comp tickets by the Six social media team for my Instagram, and honestly I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the show. The audience was absolutely wild tonight (in a good way) which I think brought the energy of the whole house up. After everyone’s solo song, there was a lot of applause and it lasted for a while, and each queen looked emotional as they soaked in the applause. The whole show was electric and there was even a standing ovation after, “I Don’t Need Your Love”. The audience went NUTS over the “Get Down” costume reveal. Abby Mueller’s “Heart of Stone” was beautiful. Overall, this was just a fun and entertaining night and I think this is a good musical if you’re looking for a pure fun night out. I have to say two people stood up and left and came back during the show in the center mezzanine which was kind of annoying. Also, a lot of people around me were recording the Megasix which I didn’t realize was not allowed.

I was also there tonight. Saw this cast during its Chicago run and instantly fell in love with the show and their performances. The entire run tonight felt tight, together, and celebratory for them *finally* being on Broadway. The energy was electric albeit loud and concert-like, but I'll give it to the first preview factor. (It's actually why I rushed to see the show tonight!)

The merchandise is excellent for show. There are varieties of shirts, a tote bag for each queen, enamel pins with a quote from each queen, a beautiful program, cools mugs, and more. One could definitely shell out more at the vendors than for a ticket.

I except (and hope!) this will be a hit. Tonight was wonderful!

I am 43 and I love this show. Everyone around me tonight and when I saw it in Chicago last July were also adults who were fully engaged with the show.

Welcome to Broadway, SIX! Tonight far exceeded my expectations. It did seem like they’ve updated the lighting. I also thought the costumes may have been tweaked a bit but I have to look at my old photos to confirm. 

I thought the show itself was pretty much the same as what I saw in Chicago except this was an awesome audience so there was a lot of allowing for applause and such. No filming of the mega six but I thought it was interesting there was also no formal announcement not to. There was only a blurb in the Playbill. I didn’t see a single person filming the entire night except for the show itself.

I was in the Rear Orchestra Center Aisle seat and had a perfect view. I also noticed SRO behind the House right section. Not sure if it was on the Left too. The ushers were standing in the back watching the show the entire time as were some of the upstairs bartenders. Fun to see.

Everyone there received a pin with tonight’s date so that was nice. Merch has been updated a bit from Chicago. The magnet I bought in Chicago was vertical and said Divorced Beheaded Live In Concert. The magnet I bought tonight said Divorced Beheaded Broadway and was horizontal. Lots of the merch said Broadway on it. There is a gorgeous brand new program available already which I also bought.

Stage door looked insane so I was on my train out of Penn Station at 9:48. I’ll be playing lottery for this one often.

Agreed. We saw it in London a few weeks ago. My 71 year old husband LOVED it. As did I. We have tickets for NY in May. (Which we may still put on Stubhub if another show demands to be seen instead. But it'd be a hard sell to my husband)

They did have an announcement before the show started saying no pictures or filming of any kind during the performance.

The show was everything I hoped it would be, I absolutely loved it. The audience was absolutely wild, the yelling during “ex-wives” was a bit much though as it made it hard to actually hear the singing, it’s staged like a concert, but it’s not really a concert. But it’s really a minor issue as it definitely elevated the energy of the show!

There were a lot of people filming at the end in the mezzanine, but I don’t see what or how the ushers could have handles that honestly...

WOW.

So, I traveled to Chicago to see this show, caught it again during its run in Boston, and have anxiously awaited its arrival in New York. As many others have said, tonight was absolutely electric. The cast was in top form, the improvements to costumes and lighting were STUNNING (the details!), and it really felt like a homecoming. The book and score is almost identical to previous versions, aside from one or two tiny references to the new lighting effects.

Merchandise-wise, there was so much more than I was even able to take in. But they're incredibly smart in making six different designs in both tote bags and gorgeous enamel pins (one for each queen) so people can either purchase their favorite, or try to collect them all (I admittedly got two enamel pins myself).

 

Edit: I forgot to mention the extended standing ovation after I Don't Need Your Love, which did make me tear up a bit.

 

Edit 2: Worth bringing up, stage door was incredibly crowded and loud but everyone was very polite and happy to make space without pushing. One of the least stressful "dooring" experiences I've had, aside from the cold.

I was also there tonight and I must say that it was one of the most electric and incredible nights I have experienced at a theater. All six Queens are in top form and sang the crap out of their songs. I have to give a shout out to Abby Mueller’s Heart of Stone. It was stunning. She sings with this restraint that pulls you in and makes you really listen to her. Then when she finally lets it all out... it’s transcendent. She’s also a masterclass in how to motivate vocal runs with emotion instead of just riffing to riff. Another standout for me was Anna Uzele’s Catherine Parr. But honestly all of the Queens stood out and I bet everyone left the theater with different favorites.

The show itself lived up to my expectations. I had not seen any version before and I think it’s incredibly smart. It’s shameless pop and a fun night, but then it’s also relevant, important, deep, and empowering.

I could go in for a while about everything that I liked, but instead:

Just go see it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show have a unanimous approval rating like this show. I literally don’t know anyone who didn’t love it.

I really hope it’s a hit In NYC- though I don’t think I need worry..

I feel like filming the MegaSix has become such a big thing for this show that it’ll be impossible to stop everyone from filming it.  It’s the same reasoning behind that Area 51 raid, just with better intentions: you can’t stop all of us.

Anyone sit in the rear mezz? I bought a ticket in row K because I wanted to see this so badly but I usually sit closer. Hoping it isn’t too bad!

I have sat in the rear mezzanine at the Brooks a couple times, and the view is terrific.

I sat in Row J Center Mezz and was surprised at how great the view is. I normally never sit mezzanine but wanted to see this show on opening night and was pretty shocked at how close it felt/looked.

But I think this is a show that doesn't necessarily need to be too close to the stage unless you want it to feel more like a concert and get more involved. I enjoyed seeing all the lighting and the dance formations.

Everyone around me was having the time of their life, too. I've never been to a show with so much energy. It was amazing.

I agree with what everyone has been reporting - it was an amazing night, with incredible energy and amazing performances. I was in a box seat (rush) and didn't feel like it was a partial view at all - I could see facial expressions perfectly while still seeing the full choreography and enjoying their interactions with the front audience. All of the costumes have been redesigned. Some changes are subtle while others, like Cleves, are not. Their shoes are also new/different and the tights are sparkly! As people mentioned, the lighting has been ramped up and I also swore there were a few choreography changes from Chicago, but it might have just been the size of the stage. 

I did stage door after and the creative team (writers and directors) signed along with the full cast and the alternates. It was a little pushy at times but everyone was polite and the cast was super happy to chat with people, clearly very excited.

So happy to see the good buzz so far! I love this show and want it to do well. I agree that it appeals to a broad demographic, except for maybe the people that probably wouldn't voluntarily see a Broadway show to begin with. 

I actually just saw the Once on This Island tour and it only ran 80 min (I read that it was 90 min but the usher told me 80 min when I asked). So, yeah, I'm not sure why the run time is being discussed such an issue when there are other shows that are almost just as short. I personally think the run time will work in its favor for tourists.

God I haven’t posted on here in years!

I’m seeing it tonight. As someone who’s been in love with Tudor history for the last 12 years I was skeptical about this show at first. Was in London last year and saw all the adverts at the tube stations. Thought it was cute, but didn’t have any time to see it. I lived to regret it. The music is fantastic! Can’t wait to see how well put together the show is. And of course how historically accurate it truly is. That is my one issue, the accuracy.


Scared to try to record the megasix, and sad that Broadway isn’t allowing (for now) something that makes the West End show and all tours so unique. I hope that changes before opening.

I have to echo everything that's been said so far. This is a total, joyous blast. For anyone concerned this is too slim a piece for Broadway (which I was), the concert format is something of a red herring, there's so much more depth here than I expected from just hearing the album. Show of the season for me so far, I can't wait to see it again. I will say the audience last night was perhaps a bit too over the top (it was a first preview though so that's to be expected I guess), but my initial concerns that people would chatter and sing along were unfounded, it turned out to be a very polite if vocal crowd.
