OK....it's the last show of a successful run and the last thing you want the French Horn player to think about was the wrong note he/she hit at the end of one number? I mean seriously?"

 

Considering it is a money note, we most definitely should want the french horn player thinking about it and getting it right.

It was a lovely afternoon. What a gorgeous production.

Did anyone find it awkward Gyllenhaal didn't thank the director in his curtain speech? He even thanked the house staff. Not an intentional slight, I'm sure, but I found it odd.

Exactly, it is a major money note, and it's been missed multiple times throughout this run. Just a little strange for a Sondheim production on Broadway.  

Two other small touches that I would like to highlight again. During the act one finale, as George stages his final tableau, I absolutely love how he choreographs their poses and posture in the very final seconds, like a conductor. 

Also during the finale, I will say it again, it is a marvelous addition how Ms. Lapine has Dot walk George to his characters as they each give him a personal nod. It is so very touching, especially after the group bow. 

I will miss this production, but I am so grateful that it will be preserved on a cast recording.

I saw the show 5 times throughout its run and didn't hear the horn player crack that note. As a former horn player back in high school, that note is high but not super high. I'm guessing he or she is probably getting tired by that time?  I know professional horn players who still crack notes but it's quite rare.

I'm sooooo glad the production recouped its initial investment. In today's age of pricing center orchestra at over $300, it's great to see this production pricing 2nd/3rd row center orch at around $150 and also pricing front row at $41 rush prices during previews. Even balcony seats priced at $49 are not a bad view at all.

My 7th time seeing it on Broadway this afternoon, after one viewing at City Center - for a total of 8 (I pray someone else on here has seen it more). I consider today's final venture into the Park my very own Lesson #8.

I sat four rows in front of Sondheim, and one row in front of Maggie Gyllenhaal who was there with her daughters.

Wanted to share a quick snap I took of Sondheim at intermission (apologies it's a bit blurry). He enthusiastically darted backstage after the performance through the side orch door.

The two biggest surprises for me: I enjoyed the second act more than the first. The other: Ashford's Marie was the stand out of this production. And I thought her Dot and Jake's George were perfect.

I was there as well. Seeing Annaleigh tear up during "Move On" was very touching. I agree with everything else that has been said. Sondheim was very gracious. I shook his hand and thanked him for his work. Someone else behind me yelled out "you're my hero" and he politely nodded. Aside from everyone else mentioned, I spotted Blythe Danner sitting in front of Maggie. Walking out, I got to chat with Huma who was very humble and seemed emotionally moved. I think we all were. Walking out of the orchestra, people were still reeling from the finale and the curtain call. Many red faces in the crowd.

I flew all the way from Texas and back for one night just to see the final performance and it was one of the most moving things I'd ever experienced and worth my Row L orchestra seat behind Mr. Sondheim. I'd never seen the show live and have never seen the original Broadway cast filmed production all the way through in hopes I'd get to see it live. After missing the Follies revival and being devastated by that, I knew I couldn't miss this and I am very glad I didn't. Thoroughly looking forward to the cast album and surprised Nonesuch/PS Classics didn't pick it up. But very glad it is being preserved. Loved the Chromolume. My mouth was open in awe at everything, but that in particular.

Random question for those who bought a window card. I didn't want to make a separate thread for something small like this.

Did anyone else find theirs to be slightly longer than the standard 14"x22" size?  I finally got my frame for mine yesterday and went to put it in today and it didn't fit. I took another of my other window cards to see if the frame was slightly off, but it fit. Then I noticed the Sunday one is slightly wider. I mean only to the point of either cutting it,  custom made frame,  or a larger one. Just wondering if this was a problem for others or just the batch mine came from.
