Just coming on to quickly say I saw Sunset again last night and GIVE NICOLE THAT GD TONY AWARD.
What a production. What a performance.
It’s the best show of this past season, bar none. And it just gets better on each revisit.
I'm really puzzled by some of the reports here. They're moving your tickets, without warning, to a week later because of the extension? Is this at all normal? It doesn't make any sense to me.

I’m glad they did it for me as I paid premium prices for those tickets but obviously it’s not going to work for everyone. At least they’re able to refund or exchange to a different date.
Moving tickets automatically makes NO sense... what the heck. I get that some might be disappointed purchasing tickets to what they think was the closing but that's always a risk. Shows often extend, it happens. To just move someone's ticket without asking is insanity.
Well that was CRAZY. Was on the phone for about an hour. My tickets for the final just roll over to the same seats for the following week. I told them I also needed to exchange my tickets that I also had for Friday night to the following week as well.
At first they said "There are no refunds or exchanges" After quite a bit of back and forth they finally had me repurchase and I will get a credit for the original purchase. The other issue was as the tickets were purchased through SeatGeek they now have to contact them to issue the credit.
Telecharge was very helpful with my Oh Mary tickets to move me to the following week. Again had to purchase new ticket and will be issued a refund.
Hotel was able to switch with no issue.
I feel sorry for people who are flying in and those with a non refundable hotel room.
Person I spoke with on the phone said they were told about the extension last night but didnt make the announcement until 10AM this morning to try to get everything in order before dealing with people who purchased tickets.

It would have been even more insanity if they didn't move them. They are offering full refund for those who can't attend.

Why not send an email offering people the option to move their tickets to the 20th with their same seat before tickets go on sale to the public? I'm confused about the need for exchanges and such, like why couldn't they just move your tickets back to the 13th if you can't make the 20th? Is there something happening on the 13th they need the extra tickets for?

No, that would not have been more insanity. You were just on the phone for an hour with them you said. That wouldn't have happened if they left it alone or offered the move without automatically doing it. If they just offered to move, sure. But to automatically move the tickets. That is not standard practice by any means. I know a refund can happen but I'm sure there are many people who cannot make the 20th and will be upset to not still have the option of keeping their seats on the 13th.
I'm surprised that they didn't wait till after the Tony Awards to do this... I had suspected if they had a good night on Sunday that they might add a week or two. And its true the box office has been doing better lately. I'm still hoping the rumor for a limited return to London/pro shot is also still in the works

Is the whole thing even legal?
I think they probably thought they were doing a favour to people who bought specifically for the closing, and that if people want to change they can exchange back. It's a kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

I think one of the reasons they automatically moved everyone is the tickets to the final were all sold at premium prices. I know where I am sitting the tickets kept going up in price to close to $1000.00. The last row of the Orchestra on the sides right now are going for $444.65 and seats in Row P center are $778.97.
The people who want to stay with the 13th can get a refund and repurchase at a lot cheaper price than what they paid originally and there is a lot of seats available.

I went again last week and couldn’t agree more.
I was content with the two times I saw the show. But now they extended so of course I had to buy a seat for the last Tuesday. Dammit.
Also dammit? ATG and their stupid random pricing structure. For people like me who need round numbers, it's an itch I can't scratch.

I recently saw this for a second time, and I am just sitting down to give my two cents. I loved it as much as I did the first time. I even loved the SB number as much as I remember loving it the first time, even though I was expecting it this time.
Having seen MHE on this trip, I would definitely vote for Jamie Lloyd, were I a Tony voter, even though I though that Michael Arden did an 'almost' great job. (I really have an issue with his making certain decisions without taking into consideration how they would impact viewing from the sides).
Much to my surprise, Scherzinger's voice was as strong as when I saw the show in October, something I really did not expect. Were I a Tony voter, I probably would have voted for her, although I might have been tempted to vote for Jasmine, who was so special in Boop. In fact, the four leads were all as good as I remembered, and David Thaxton absolutely should have been nominated, at the very least instead of Danny Burstein, who was adequate as Herbie IMO.
In another topic, I read that they are considering filming this. I would love to see a very meta version, in which some of the filming acknowledges the fact of an audience. I think the filming in the show itself could work with a meta approach.
It's looking like demand is picking up again for Sunset. Do we think this is a natural part of a long run coming to an end in a couple months or has there been a lot of marketing/Tony campaigning efforts that have worked recently? Or both?
I went last night for my final visit before the Tonys and before this closes next month. As always, it was astounding. Nicole did some added little vocal flourishes during "With One Look" that I loved.
I took my mom (it was her first time seeing it), and she also loved it. My mom is a casual theatregoer and just sees 1-2 shows a year, and I was not sure how she would like this, so I was delighted with her reaction!

Been wondering the same thing. The press as of late has been unbelievable. I don't think there was this much coverage when it opened - but since April on it's been non-stop - which has been awesome to see, but curious as an observer. I'm still surprised they didn't have Nicole and Tom do a "Perfect Year" single release in November for the Christmas season and keep the momentum into the Winter doldrums.
I'm really hoping Sunset has a great night tomorrow (if they nab 4 - Best revival, Best Actress, Best Orchestrations and Best Lighting) I'll be thrilled (If I'm greedy, Best Actor for Tom :) ) and that they announce a "return" to the Savoy for a limited run/pro-shot

I have been looking at Saturday tickets in June and as of right now every date maybe 75-80% of the theater is available. If this is an increase in demand, yowsa.

I still don't understand the need to add the extra week.

That's true of most shows though... I just checked Hamilton for example and found the same thing. It's rare that people purchase tickets far in advance any longer.
The extra week is for the demand winning best revival. The prices are crazy that’s why it doesn’t sell

I am aware. I was responding to post #1365 suggesting demand has picked up.

I think their point is that in recent weeks attendance and ticket prices/grosses have been picking up. There's been a few dates that I noticed sold out the day of the performance which for those obsessing and watching on a regular basis hadn't happened since the Fall-December.
Just picked up my ticket and Nicole is out tonight. I had a feeling all day she’d call out.
