In the upcoming London revival. I don't believe it for a second though.
Wow, I love SJP but that would be horrible.
It's all just giant rumor circulating some London theatre sites right now. I thought I would do my part and spread it here.
Having seen in her in 'Once Upon A Mattress', she does not have the range for Eva...love her as Carrie though.

On 2 different London Theatre message boards. By people claiming to be in the know. I will be stunned, stunned I tell you, if there's an ounce of truth in it. But it's such a fascinating choice, I couldn't help but share it here.
"We can't get Madonna. We can't get Idina or Eden, so let's get...Sarah Jessica Parker?"
That rumor has to be false. She is a great talent, but her singing voice is serviceable at best, and she'd blow out her voice if she even sang 1 song from that score.
I love her too, but um....yea...

"and she'd blow out her voice if she even sang 1 song from that score."
They'd use the dumbed down score that Madonna used for the movie. It only requires the actress to be able to sing 5 notes.
Lol. Ick.
Why don't they audition Murney or Ripley? Both would sing the crap out of that score, and would deliver star making performances.

Never!
But, would Murney or Ripley draw crowds?
muuuuuuurney. ahh. now that would make me happy.
i love sarah jessica. but her singing voice does not work for evita.
If it's a star-making performance, crowds will come.
ugghh just lets hope a rumor is just a rumor.

i know. maybe they'll wait until she's done here?
Well lets look at it this way, they are the lucky ones because after sjp leaves, someone better will come in and they still have Evita...and Les Mis....and We Will Rock You. I want to go to England soo bad just for these reasons

The basis for the rumour seems to be SJP leaving the Ivy (a showbiz restaurant) a few minutes before Andrew Lloyd Webber. Given that almost all the movers and shakers of London theatre dine at the Ivy - I'm fairly sure it doesn't amount to much.

Can we not bring up Ripley as Eva?
She would tear that role up, but I gave up on that dream a while ago.
Do you think they would alter or revise the original for the revival? That would be interesting. I'm getting tired of the Hal Prince inspired productions. Yeah, it was good staging, but let's do something different, something new! I, personally, would include more or Eva's background, the October 17th demonstration, her relationship with Peron, and her political activities. In order to make the more show interesting, they need to make Eva more interesting. She's kind of one-dimensional (in the original show), if you think about it.

And SJP still couldn't sing that 5 note score.
I adore Sarah Jessica, but EVITA she is not.
