i love sherie too! that's terrible. i can't imagine the horror of that happening while performing.

That is so sad, that they booed her. It makes me mad. I'm sorry, but its not your choise who gets a role and who doesn't and if you don't like a person in role, then don't go. Don't ruin the performance for someone who as paid $100 for a ticket.

I also believe people didn't like her interpretation. She was the first to play the role as like a dumb blond as opposed to Idina's bitchiness.

That she was booed like that on stage is appalling and disgraceful. I'd love any Renthead who did such a thing to come here and write a tasteful defense. I doubt they could. If you do not like a perfomer, don't cheer or applaud them. Going out of your way to be nasty showcases a complete lack of theatre euquitee (sp) and respect. I would have searched the audience at intermission and personally humiliated them in front of everyone.

Yes they booed her. They booed her because she was not Idina and it was a miserable thing they did.

Sherie was playing a performance artist. She based her performance artist on a real performance artist who Jonathon based the character of Maureen on. This artist was a blond who's entire act was about commenting on the notion of ditzy blonds. They initially wanted to go with a big blond like Sherie, but Idina blew them away and her talent could not be denied.

Sherie was amazing! She never got the credit she deserved in that show. And all of the same people who booed her all of a sudden couldn't get enough of her when she was in AIDA and The Last Five Years. She didn't come back with a different vocal quality she was the same brilliant actress she always was, but now she wasn't replacing Idina, so it was ok.

Sherie took alot of **** cos she DESERVED it, and there was no more line for the lottery for that point just about 400 rentheads that wanted to push her in front of a bus. The main reason was that she couldn't do Over The Moon if her life depended on it. She had this stupid robotic hand movement in the show that Fredi made fun of in her last performance cos thank GOD Kristen Lee Kelly was performing Maureen (Sherie stepped down for most of Adam's and Fredi's last week cos she knew the fans hated her). Kristen Lee Kelly wss Idina's understudy and should have gotten the role after Idina left. Kristin was a true fan favorite and she deserved the attention she got. Sherie was good in that "Last 5 Years" with Norbert but thats about it. I hated her in Aida also.

ajayspak2, your response, as I expected, provided no justification whatsoever for booing a Broadway performer. Just because she wasnt Kristy does not give people the right to boo her. She had a different interpretation of the role and it does seem people *gasp* liked her. Yet all it take is for people with no tact whatsoever to create a rather awkward and unsettling atmosphere. I stand by the fact I would have personally blasted any fellow audience member for doing such a thing. There is an old cliche that is so true: If you have nothing nice to say, dont say it. Keep your opinions to yourself. I wager that of the 20-40 rent fans that took it into their hands to boo, 500 enjoyed her performance. End of rant.

And Sherie deserves many Kudos. Not only has she been nominated for tons of awards, but her record company puts out many CDs of cast recordings that we once would never had heard at all.

I saw DRS a few days ago and she was BRILLIANT! I think she is one of the most talented actresses there are today in musical theatre. One of the funniest women out there with one of the best voices.

Wow, thats pathetic. Anyone who did that should be totally ashamed of themselves. Why would people "boo" the actor just because you didn't get the person who you wanted to take over the role? I just don't get people.

I never saw her as Maureen but I am glad that she has gone on as one of the most successful actors who have ever played Maureen, since she started with so many against her.

People booed her because she wasn't in their beloved OBC? And that gives you a right to do it? It's that sort of pretension that makes me ashamed to be a Rent fan.

I think she's absolutely brilliant.

while i would never boo a performer (thats just tacky) i totally understand why people didnt like her in the show. Sherie was indeed TERRIBLE in the role of Maureen. I had only seen her in TOMMY prior to seeing her in Rent and she was ok. really neither here nor there. However RENT? she was bad. sorry to say it. just did not cut it.
