Finally saw it today-matinee- such a fun show!!!! Yes, there are some flaws, and it took about 15 minutes for it to really take off for me but, god, what a great time! Really an underrated show, I actually felt lightheaded from laughing. Really just great.
Had and understudy for Hart, Michael X. Martin, who started off bland but got better. The rest of the cast was phenomenal, just amazing. Hilty and Block really deserved nominations, such great performances. ANd SPencer Liff- Wow! What a dancer. Couldn't keep my eyes off him the whole time, and if i wasn't mistaken, he winked at me during the performance and curtain call- made me very happy . By the Way, when did he join the cast, and when did Haskell leave? Just wondering.
Really just a fun afternoon at the theatre- definitely making a return trip!

Just listened to the Cast Recording, and it does not disappoint!
Stephanie and Megan are fantastic as usual, but Allison sounds fantastic on 'One of the Boys', which is one of the best tracks on the recording.
Can't wait to get to the city to see the show!

I saw the show on Thursday and thought it was so much fun! I was smiling from the get-go! And for some reason when Stephanie J. Block started singing during 9 to 5 i got teary eyed! lol I think i was just so excited to be there! I thought it was a lot better than i was expecting! It is definitely underrated for sure! Stephanie can belt the s*** out of any song! And Megan was so adorable! From what i had heard from Alison i was kind of expecting not to like her singing very much but i was pleasently surprised! and marc was just awful! In a good way! He was so slimmy and creapy! haha but soo talented! :) I got the cast recording and cant stop listening :)

This is the most underrated show of the season. It is so much fun too! I don't care about the flaws. If I am entertained, then I'm happy. I was very entertained!
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.
"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
When I went the week before the Tonys, they had switched over to black and white. Allison Janney started signing someone's and realized it was black and white and turned the doorman and asked him "Is the black and white bad? Does that mean something? Should I be worried?"
Ah. That makes me nervous. What did the doorman say? The show needs to advertise more. The tv commericals are good, but only come on every so often.

Allison worrying jokingly or sincerely--seemed to be a little of both.
He tried to downplay it, explaining that most shows switch over after awhile but really what else could he have done? You don't want to worry your star and you don't want to suggest the show's not doing as well as it could at the stagedoor.
I'll echo the sentiment that I really enjoyed the show. I saw Hair and Next to Normal the day before I saw 9 to 5 (and those two put together create a theatre high) but 9 to 5 is a really lovely escape and not without merit. Updated On: 7/13/09 at 12:32 AM
Im seeing the show July 22, and I couldn't be more excited. I just got my tickets today, Row A. I can't wait to see it. =)

Unfortunately it is not selling very well. I was talking with one of the doormen yesterday, and he said that they aren't doing well at all. Every time I've been, the Orchestra has been quite full, but I've never had a view of the Mezz to see what it looks like up there.

I can't really say when it may close (as in I honestly don't know, not as in I have insider knowledge). From what I've gathered from the doormen (we're buddies) without outright asking them because it's not my place, I believe they are trying to hold through the fall and have White Christmas back in the Marquis for the holidays. I know people have said it's going other places, but from Marquis employees, White Christmas still wants in there.
I'm a huge fan of the show, I hope it pulls in better numbers ASAP, but I am guessing an October/early November closing unless it miraculously (and hopefully!!) turns around.
That's my two cents, but two cents can't buy you anything.

Saw the show yesterday - and LOVED it! The whole cast was perfection, I'm so glad I saw it! I didn't get to go to the stagedoor so hopefully they don't change the color of the playbill when I do go.
If you saw the show yesterday, then they playbills are already in black and white. They've been that way since late May I believe.
The thing about color versus black and white playbills, is it is thousands of marketing dollars used on the playbills that could be used elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I love color playbills as much as the next fan. The lack of color may not indicate a lack of money, but the hope to better use that money to market outside of the already paying audience.
Again, two cents can buy you two pennies.

I posted in another thread that I also saw this show yesterday and really enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. (the playbills are in black and white) The cast is wonderful----the music is good in some parts, (ok in other parts). Very funny, very well acted performances. I hope it is around for a while----I'd like to see it again.
In regards to those suggesting a Fall closing in Oct/Nov... do you think it would be late Oct? If I have Oct 11th tix... how are the chances of it remaining open?
