It adds a much needed layer for the character because you can see this is the point where the real change happens, which makes the strength she has after the pivotal event in the story not something newly found but the result of a journey of rediscovery of herself."
Thanks for your interpretation of this, I totally agree!

Eddie is amazing!!!!!!!!!! Love his Ogie. I know Ogie is supposed to be 32 but I’ll admit Eddie looks more like he is in his mid-40s."
The line was actually changed to Ogie being 42 instead of 32 because Eddie is actually like 55."
Oh ok! Makes sense. I can see him as 42 (he looks great for 55!) When he enters the stage I can't help but smile just seeing his energy. Very happy for him!"
I enjoyed him much more than I thought I would. I did like him better with Lenne then with Molly Jobe though.

I'm so thrilled for him as well because how often do you see someone in a role on Broadway, who was also in the movie of the show (if it was based on a movie)? It's along the same lines as someone who wrote the show being in the show, such as Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton, Dave Malloy in Great Comet, etc. So special. I was almost tearing up when I saw him.

Soooo, I'd say take this with a grain of salt since the production is still in development with no dates or anything announced, but do we think maybe Shoshana won't extend? I've seen that rumor going around. However, on Playbill.com under "in development" shows, it says she's attached to a stage adaptation of Beaches. No word on where that show is in the process, but just something I noticed.

Shoshana starred in the 2015 Chicago production of Beaches, which was billed as a pre-Broadway run. It has no bearing on whether or not she extends in Waitress.
Here's my dilemma. Any advice would be welcome,
I'd like to see Sho in this during the weekend of 4/24, but she's out on 4/23 for an engagement she's got in another city. I wonder how soon she'll roll back into the show. I'd like to make sure to see her in the show.

4/24 is a Wednesday so I don't quite follow. Also, if shes planning to be out for 4/23 i'd be surprised if she then also called out the day after, having given specific notice like that. So I doubly dont follow.

Argh. Sorry. Looked too quickly at the schedule.
The weekend of 4/26. She's doing a gig elsewhere on 4/25. Do you think she'd be back in Waitress at any point that weekend?

there is never any guarantee but generally if an actor has a planned absence, that means they are making plans to be back for the performances that arent planned absences.

An actor from Mean Girls recently took a vacation and was back for the first show of the week. I know, different shows, but I think you’d be good.
So has there been official word on when Shoshana is out? We have tickets for the matinee on the 24th. I imagine she will be out.

I am wondering the same thing. I have tickets for the 23rd and am flying up just for the show. If anyone has any clear insight it would be appreciated!
According to the box office, she's out Wednesday, 4/24, both shows, and Thursday, 4/25.
don't worry, you'll likely get Torns as Jenna who is wonderful.

I thought Stephanie Torns left and that’s why we got Shoshana in the first place... I could be wrong, though.

Stephanie did not leave. She took a week’s vacation when Shoshana started but she has been back since.
I’m looking forward to seeing Stephanie with Jeremy Jordan. Hoping that’s the way it plays out.

Sorry I’ve been getting a lot of error messages here on this site in the last week or so. My previous post printed twice in spite of the fact the message indicated neither would post.

No Stephanie Torns has not left the cast. Whenever her stints as Jenna end, she returns to her ensemble track, playing Francine, and understudying Dawn and Jenna. Major props to her though, she's been with the show since its pre-Broadway run in Boston in 2015! At this point it does seem as though, she will be staying with the show until its inevitable closing (which as we all have speculated would not be surprising to see happen in the not too distant future.)

Got it! I guess I was confused because of this post on Instagram:

Now that I'm rereading it, I can see how it was misconstrued in my mind. My first thought was the same thought I had after the announcement of Anastasia's closing: "Good for her. She needs a break - she's been working so darn hard!" I'm glad she's still in the show, though - she's so talented and enthusiastic, and I hope that if there's another chance, she gets full billing as the lead of the show.

Saw the show Sunday night, and thought Shoshana did a great job. Her version of She Used To Be Mine was excellent and she gave more depth to the role than I’ve seen before. Unfortunately her chemistry with Jeremy Jordan just isn’t really there, even if I love him. Still an enjoyable show and the audience was clearly loving it.

Stephanie added a “for now” on that Instagram post. I’m wondering if they already have the next Jenna lined up but she’ll possibly do another stint before that person comes in. I don’t see it closing quite yet. When I saw it last week it was a packed house,
Nothing lined up, but the new Ogie will be announced soon
Unless we get an extension announcement Fromm Shoshana, I’m almost positive that we’ll have another Stephanie run - which I love. She really is in my top three Jenna’s.

I am really hoping for an extension announcement from Shoshana (we have tickets for May 13), but I’d also be excited to Stephanie Torns as I’ve read so many good things about her.

Was anyone else at the 4/17 evening performance? I thought Shoshana was incredible. Her voice was top notch as always, and her acting was mostly superb. She kept breaking character in the second act with all the bad idea reprises and laughing so hard, even laughing through singing. She couldn't get it together. It was a little odd and really did take away from the brilliant work she had been doing.
