There are so many flops out there that I think if they were rewritten and/or reworked could actually be successful. One of these for me was "Little Women" it had some good songs but it was just not a good show and I was very dissapointed with how it was put together since I loved the orignally story.
Any other shows that need a second chance?
high fidelity
dance of the vampires
I've said it before. I really loved The Sweet Smell of Success.

Ragtime! I'm not sure if it counts as a flop, but it deserved a much longer run.
Yeah I would love to see Little Women done again with a much improved book and better score.
All Shook Up.
It was so great, it just never got the chance to shine.
Sunset Boulevard. It didn't recoup, so I guess it was a flop. I think you just need to keep plugging in a dynamic Norma with some star appeal and the show will sell well.
The Rink. If it was well-planned and stuff, maybe it'd have a longer run.

"Chess." I really hope Tim Rice can come up with the definitive version, in his heart, and bring that to Broadway and the West End. It's a very personal work to him and we all knew he was hurt by the Broadway failure. However, I think it should be completely through-sung in the style of the original concept album. "Chess" should be like a contemporary OPERA on Broadway
"Whistle Down The Wind." All it needed was another small re-write. It should have transferred after 1998. "No Matter What" was ALW's first No. 1 since "Any Dream Will Do" and "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina". Such a beautiful show, IMO
"Jekyll & Hyde." Something like a cross between the production in Bremen and the original tour / Alley production. Perhaps if the movie is made and sparks some interest, a revival *may* happen somewhere? I also wish Frank and Leslie could get the definitive version of this, instead of changing it all the time, but it'll never happen since B'way seems to have no interest in horror / gothic stuff
"The Scarlet Pimpernel." This should have had out-of-town try-outs. It should have worked out as many of its problems as it could, in advance. It was a fun, great show. I think that it deserves longevity with "Phantom" etc.
"Camille Claudel." Well, this never made it. It never got beyond the production at Goodspeed Musicals, CT. I feel that this is such a shame. Frank and Nan did some of their best stuff for this but I guess no one wants to see a musical about a female sculpturer (sp?)
I know I had more, but I can't think right now.
I'm most likely gonna get alot of rolled eyes on this one, but I think that Wedding Singer deserved a longer run. It was a really fun show, that maybe with a bit of reworking could have lasted longer.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu"Caroline or Change" also deserved a longer run.

Agreed!
I also think that Ragtime should have stayed around longer.

Jane Eyre, Seussical, and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown are three of my favorite shows and I think they all should have deserved longer runs.
Shows that I haven't seen, but would love to, based on what I've heard from recordings (and the fact that I'm a Truman Capote fan):
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Grass Harp
Definitely "Caroline, or Change"
Off the top of my head, High Fidelity and Lennon.
