Just to add fuel to the fire, I saw the show tonight, and Chris Sieber (who's a complete doll!) said that " a few weeks ago, the show was taped and will be released on DVD some time. " So hopefully it will happen! :)

I've heard that they have no firm plans yet and just wanted to get it filmed before they lost the whole original cast. Glad they did though and I hope they do something with it soon.

Well, they do have some plans set for it.. they are planning on releasing it on DVD in the future, per Dreamworks' CEO.

Of course not. I'm always happy when future generations will be able to look back at the current state of the American Musical Theatre.

What ever happened to the breathlessly anticipated dvd of Tale Of Two Cities?
....but the world goes 'round

Wasn't it supposed to air on TV first?
I'm just so happy that out of all the shows the past few seasons SHREK & TALE OF TWO CITIES were chosen to showcase the best of what Broadway has to offer.

Hey guys- just saw the show last night for Brian's last show... David Lindsay-Abaire came out of the stage door with Jeanine Tesori who walked away at the speed of light when she saw the crowd. But David stopped to talk and sign our stuff because he was totally thrilled that somebody noticed him instead of a cast member! (I also got Jason Moore to sign in the lobby!)
But anywho, I asked him about the plans for the DVD, and he said that he truly has no clue as to what's going on and said that some people are being very secretive about it, but he honestly did not know what was going on with it. He then told me not to believe what I read on the internet, and not to hold my breath over it. He said that if something does happen, it will be for a very small amount of time, because the producers want the tour to go well.
All in all, he was incredibly gracious. (As was Jason Moore, when he learned that my friends and I go to a performing arts camp where I AD'ed 4 different shows.)

Because there will be no other record of any other show playing Broadway. Isn't it amazing how we seem to know that there were thousands of musicals that ran on Broadway without our ever having a commercially released DVD to view? But if anyone wants a DVD of their favorite Broadway musical, all they really need to do is pony up the bucks to produce and distribute it.

I really don't get it.. Are they waiting for the show to close first before saying anything about the recording?

are you feeling any better? My dad and I were worried. Oh and I didn't think David would know what he was talking about. So I asked Robb and he said it should be out in Spring. Which sounds like a rent thing to do...
