When I go to New York in the spring I'm going to ask my mom if I can see both "Anything Goes" and this show!
Seen this show in London twice and gotta say it's fantastic. Great songs, costumes, and a FANTASTIC set design. Hopefully Patina will transfer with the show.

If Patina Miller doesn't transfer I'd like to see Saycon Sengbloh in this role.
Guess this means Promises won't extend
Duh...
Patina is going to transfer. I'd be willing to bet the transfer was in her contract since before the show even opened in London.

Patti LuPone can tell you a thing or two about that.
A truly amazing show! Glad people who can't make to the West End will hopefully have a better chance of seeing it!

I truly am sorry that the West End is losing this feel good, brilliant, heart warming and all in all fantastic musical. Our loss, here in the West End, is most definitely Broadways gain!
Take great care of it for us!
^ agreed! We took Hairspray...and then that closed here as well lol so all we're left with is Avenue Q for some feel-goodness, unless i'm forgetting a show! lol
hahaa i actually feel really stupid forgetting them! haha
Especially seeing as Avenue Q is closing the same day as Sister Act. :P
I've heard Patina's contract does not include a transfer but they would be foolish not to rehire her and make her the star she should be.

I hope Jerry Zaks won't do a bad a job of directing it. His latest show, "101 Dalmatians," was a mess but he still did a terrific job with the 1987 revival of "Anything Goes" and the 1992 revival of "Guys and Dolls."
The most recent of those shows was 18 years ago. It's a long time between drinks.
It might just be me but i thought this was such a mediocre show, my other half wanted to leave at the interval. The score was so generic

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I hope they get Anneliese van der Pol to play Sister Mary Robert.
Did Whoopi say anything about this on "The View" today?? I wonder why she's kept quite about it.
Why is it closing in London? Is it not selling well?
Well it's at the London Palladium, which holds just under 2,300 people, and even the best of shows struggle to sell well there due to the size, it's lasted a year and half, which is good for that theatre, and Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted a big theatre to put Wizard of Oz into next year, so something had to give... and that was Sister Act!

It's not just you. My partner and I were not impressed with the show. It has half a decent score, weak book, and half a giant cheese wheel that rises and revolves for no discernible reason other than to have a huge set piece on stage. We were both very excited to see a new Menken show and we left very disappointed. It's sad because we could really see the potential, but the book and score kept falling flat.

I have to agree with somewhat with songanddanceman2. When I saw it I felt more like I was at an amusement park then seeing theatre, but I did enjoy some of the music and bought the CD for the hell of it. :)
The score imo is one of Alan Menken's best, in fact I think it is
See, I like some of the songs for Dolores and the nuns, but I hated the title song and every single number for the men.
