Guess this means Promises won't extend
Duh...
Patina is going to transfer. I'd be willing to bet the transfer was in her contract since before the show even opened in London.

Patti LuPone can tell you a thing or two about that.

I truly am sorry that the West End is losing this feel good, brilliant, heart warming and all in all fantastic musical. Our loss, here in the West End, is most definitely Broadways gain!
Take great care of it for us!

Posted: 10/5/10 at 5:38pm^ agreed! We took Hairspray...and then that closed here as well lol so all we're left with is Avenue Q for some feel-goodness, unless i'm forgetting a show! lol

Especially seeing as Avenue Q is closing the same day as Sister Act. :P

Posted: 10/5/10 at 6:39pmI've heard Patina's contract does not include a transfer but they would be foolish not to rehire her and make her the star she should be.

Posted: 10/5/10 at 7:00pmI hope Jerry Zaks won't do a bad a job of directing it. His latest show, "101 Dalmatians," was a mess but he still did a terrific job with the 1987 revival of "Anything Goes" and the 1992 revival of "Guys and Dolls."

Posted: 10/5/10 at 7:56pmIt might just be me but i thought this was such a mediocre show, my other half wanted to leave at the interval. The score was so generic

Posted: 10/6/10 at 12:24amWhy is it closing in London? Is it not selling well?
#20Sister Act On Broadway!
Posted: 10/6/10 at 4:44amWell it's at the London Palladium, which holds just under 2,300 people, and even the best of shows struggle to sell well there due to the size, it's lasted a year and half, which is good for that theatre, and Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted a big theatre to put Wizard of Oz into next year, so something had to give... and that was Sister Act!

It's not just you. My partner and I were not impressed with the show. It has half a decent score, weak book, and half a giant cheese wheel that rises and revolves for no discernible reason other than to have a huge set piece on stage. We were both very excited to see a new Menken show and we left very disappointed. It's sad because we could really see the potential, but the book and score kept falling flat.

Posted: 10/6/10 at 3:45pmI have to agree with somewhat with songanddanceman2. When I saw it I felt more like I was at an amusement park then seeing theatre, but I did enjoy some of the music and bought the CD for the hell of it. :)

Posted: 10/6/10 at 3:49pmThe score imo is one of Alan Menken's best, in fact I think it is
