since I saw it in Chicago close to a year ago now?
Has it been decided that it just doesn't necessarily gotta after all?

More like 6 months. I don't think they ever intended to come in the 2015-2016 season. I could see it taking the Al Hirschfeld

Lack of available theaters?? Maybe they're reworking it with the hope of a Spring 2017 opening?

The producers are waiting for a theater for next spring, so I've heard. But so are a lot of shows so who knows.
Also, I've seen on several threads (including this one) that it could take the Al Hirschfeld. Is Kinky Boots closing??

Oh, please, please don't let this show come to Broadway.
It was a MESS of a show. The acting did not work well together and story was bland and predictable. The only highlight was the 10 minute dance number at the end, but by then I was dozing off because of the two hours the audience and I endured beforehand.
Stick to the documentary.

Unless KINKY BOOTS gets a name for the winter, it should close by New Year's.

I saw it the afternoon of New Year's Eve in Chi -- the audience LOVED the show big time, and I thought it was a hoot, too. I went specifically because I loved "The Drowsy Chaperone" and found that this show (Robert Martin co-wrote, also co-wrote Drowsy) has a similar sense of whimsy. It's just fun -- Georgia Engel is adorable and really IS the star, but the whole ensemble is terrific. Sorry that at least one person hated this show, but believe me, at the performance I attended the audience had a ball. It was a perfect way to celebrate the new year.

I saw an interview where one of the producers said it is still coming, but under a different name than "Gotta Dance." However, she couldn't mention the new name yet (which had me confused). So, does anyone know what the new name is now?
(And the interview I'm talking about can be found here: https://jesseshollywoodrampage.wordpress.com/ - "Gotta Dance" is mentioned at about 1:30 in on the "Lights of Broadway Showcards 2 video)

I am unsure Georgia Engel can continue with the show . . . for those of us that saw it, without her - I am unsure what is left in the show.

I hope that are working on a major overhaul if they're still aiming for Broadway. I completely forgot I had seen it, much less recall any of the music. It was cute, but average. Nothing remarkable or memorable. What I do remember was that it was heavily discounted from the start and playing to half empty houses.

This despite the encouraging reviews. Interesting.

I wonder if Haven Burton will be part of the cast.

Why don't they just take the music box right now?
the finale was the best part.

The Hirschfeld would be perfect for this show. Or even the August Wilson.

The Hirschfeld would be my guess. I could potentially see Kinky Boots closing early next year and this show moving in by April.
Maybe even the Marquis if On Your Feet doesn't make it by then.

I hope they try Off-Broadway before moving this show to Broadway. There were many problems with the book and the acting when I saw the show in Chicago.

Although I do agree that the finale sequence was the best part of the show, I do remember that song itself being AWFUL. The biggest problem with the show was that outside of Georgia's numbers, NONE of the songs were memorable or original. I think the show will benefit from having a new song written by Ester Dean, who writes hip hop/pop music. I felt that the original song in the finale felt too squeaky clean, where it could have been a little bit edgier and fun.
I'm a little bit confused by the new title though. The BWW article announcing the change quotes the producer as saying "We are thrilled with our new title HALF TIME and feel it far better captures the story and spirit of the show" How the heck does "Half Time" better explain the essence and story of a show about old people who have a need to dance than "Gotta Dance," am I the only one who thinks the title change was a little bit pointless?

The Music Box and Cort seem too small for this show. If War Paint doesn't have the Nederlander locked down, that seems like another theater it could work in.
