Looking for something to sing in my next cabaret show with my daughter - so far I haven't thought of anything, but truthfully I haven't thought too deep yet! Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :)
Thanks, folks! More great suggestions! Re "More I Cannot Wish You", I hope to sing that to her on her wedding day, if and when that happens, whether she wants me to or not! :)
The type of love Matt mentions in the song has an absence of sexuality, using adjectives like "trustworthy" and "refreshing" instead. Likewise, Luisa's responses to Matt's declarations carry no hint of sexuality, either. She's far too self-absorbed in her adolescent egocentrism - which I find humorous, and might also work interpreted as doting father and "daddy's girl" characters.
When I saw Peter Gallagher in concert several years ago, he and his daughter (who would later go on to be in the Spring Awakening revival) performed "Anything You Can Do," which worked surprisingly nicely as a father/daughter number.

The song might work for an older man and younger woman. But in the show it is not sung by an older man and younger woman. It's sung by the leading man (young stockbroker Billy Crocker) and leading lady (the young-youngish Evangelist turned night club star Reno Sweeney).
Are you sure you aren't thinking of Friendship, which is originally and usually sung by Reno and Moonface?
