If you've ever signed onto Ticketmaster to check for available Springsteen tickets, you will get a response on any date that none are available. On the right side of the page, it says:
"BE THE FIRST TO KNOW!" WANT THE INSIDE SCOOP WHEN WE HAVE TICKETS?PROVIDE YOUR MOBILE NUMBER AND WE WILL TEXT YOU WHEN GENERAL PUBLIC TICKETS BECOME AVAILABLE. You authorize us to use automated technology to send messages to this number. Your consent is not required and is not a condition of purchase. Reply STOP to stop messages. Msg & data rates may apply."
Be aware that if you get the text message, it will say that they have "RESERVED" 2 tickets for you on a given date that could range within 1 to 4 days later. You have the choice to BUY or RELEASE. It will automatically charge your credit card on file. You cannot alter the date or ticket quantity.
Those of us who only want 1 ticket or do not store a credit card on the Ticketmaster website are out of luck for this offering. It will not send a text to those who do not have a stored credit card on Ticketmaster, though nothing says that. Would be nice if the website posted a notice that it's a 2 ticket minimum, dates and seat location cannot be changed, and selecting BUY will automatically charge your stored card. The customer service will not have ability to relocate your seat either even though Ticketmaster offers that option in its overall policy.
This program is called WinBack (though I'm not sure what you're winning back). It's not Verified Fan or the Lottery.
Just wanted to pass this on. We were caught by surprise. I didn't post this on the larger Springsteen at Walter Kerr because I thought it would get lost.
