Springsteen on Broadway to be filmed for Netflix

Regardless of how you feel about Springsteen's music, he (and his team) did everything right with this show. Picked a smaller house, marketed it well, extended it, cracked down on scalpers, and now released it to Netflix for those who can't spend $700 on tickets.

He earned that Special Tony Award for good business sense alone.

Are they streaming it? or Filming/editing it? (I didn't see it in the article, but could have missed it.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

As far as I'm aware, Netflix doesn't livestream. All of their content is filmed/edited. Also, the way they phrase it is that the day they are releasing it is "also" the closing day. They don't say that the final performance itself is being recorded.

If you're going to feel ripped off for spending those prices, you likely couldn't afford it to begin with. No way will seeing it on Netflix be the same energy as being in the theater.

Not sure a streaming video and live event are the same experience. That said, as I was not 100% committed to going, never got picked to buy tickets, and keep losing the lottery, this news does make me less concerned about entering the lottery moving forward. I'm not a huge Bruce fan, so I can wait... so, lottery people, your odds just became X-1 to 1!!!

Netflix does not stream 'live' events. They professionally film the show and then make it available at a later date to watch/stream on Netflix. Barbra Streisand's recent concert is an example of how/what Netflix does.

I'll be happy to see it on Netflix! I did attend the live show and it was exciting, but for my $75 I was WAY up in the balcony. Seeing it again from up close will be fun.

Thanks for the answers to my question! (I hadn't heard of Netflix having live stream, but I'm fairly stupid when it comes to these things.)

Did anyone think that they weren't going to film it?

And musicians have been filming their concerts for decades. I doubt anyone who has seen it wool fell that they were ripped-off.
