I have the chance to see one show when I visit New York in the next coming months, these are the two I've gone down too so which one do you think is better. I haven't seen either film so I will be going into either show blind not knowing anything. Any Suggestions?

No one has seen the version of AMELIE that will be opening in New York as it has apparently undergone substantial changes since Los Angeles. There are a few clips available online that will give you a pretty good idea about SUNSET BOULEVARD.

If you haven't seen the film of SUNSET BOULEVARD, skip New York and buy the DVD.

Amelie will be an entertaining but ultimately forgettable piece of fluff. Sunset is a classic. Always see classics when you can.

There is no way to decide, really. One is a known quantity with Glenn Close giving a riveting, beautiful performance. And the other... hasn't had a single preview yet. So, if I were buying a ticket today, I'd go Sunset, as there is no quantifiable way to judge it against a show still being revised. A better exercise is to watch both movies, although the risk there is you are seeing what neither Broadway show will be able to truly match...

Not shade at all...both films are amazing....interpretations don't always shine better.

Come From Away will have local productions for years to come, based on everything I have read to date.  There will only be one opportunity to see Glenn Close give one of the all-time great musical performances.  No question...Sun set Blvd.

You need to adjust your shade settings, they are way too low. I adored Glenn Close in Sunset, but the definitive Sunset will always be the film. The definitive Amelie will always be the movie. The definitive versions of almost every movie adaptation is always the book. Not sure how that sounds like I'm on RuPaul's Drag Race... heh.

HELL, the movie has Buster Keaton, Cecil B DeMille and Hedda Hopper making cameos in it. You can't beat that! Wasn't particularly fond of the musical first time around (Saw Betty Buckley in the role). I have heard that this is somewhat of a stripped down version and that Glen Close was worth the price of admission. I will probably just rent the movie.

The movie Sunset BLVD is great, because the story is an interesting story. But this new staging is simply magical. It's an homage to Hollywood, to the movie industry, to California, it's a must see.

I am in the tiny minority that thought the set for SUNSET BOULEVARD was the worst thing about the production. Sure it looked impressive at first, but as soon as they raised it to perform scenes underneath, one was reminded that what looked like marble had to be light enough to lift and must have been paper and plywood.

I haven't seen and won't be in NYC for the current production, but it sounds like a great improvement to me.

While I don't know what changes they will make- I really didn't care for Amélie in LA when I saw it. I have a ticket to Sunset and I am really excited. So I would go with Sunset.
