She blocked me last night too for calling her out on her Hawaii tweet."
Denée posted a picture of them together after a show a short while after this nonsense all went down and I have to wonder if that's when people were asking her to quit "helping the cast." Erivo also tweeted this morning that her responses were after she reached out to the cast, but I wonder who she might mean when she says that. Can't believe it would be Nick Choksi, Shoba, et al., considering their tweets to Casal. So on whose behalf is she speaking?
BroadwayBlack ended up deleting their response to the Erivo/Joey Cassata (GC drummer) interaction where they called the cast out for signing off on his response because Celia Mei Rubin called them out on misrepresenting the cast's reaction to Cassata's post. Still a pretty un satisfying response though: https://twitter.com/broadwayblack/status/902753053417373696

Somebody took the time to write an open, honest, thoughtful note and took the courageous step to send it straight to Ms. Erivo, and she flips it around and calls her a "child with no knowledge of anything."

I just don't get why she still bothers badmouthing this show. She already succeeded in what she wanted to do, so let it go you alresy helped an amazingly diverse show close. I wonder if once the show closes the people in the show will talk more about what happened. I'm sure they are biting their tongues right now and can't even respond directly to erivos tweets. Also that tweet was very respectful and kinder than what it should have been tbh. Her response to that is so rude, I mean everyone who disagrees with her it seems is a "child"

I hope a lot of them let it rip after closing on Sunday. I feel like there's still a lot that's going unspoken.
Has anyone burned through so much goodwill this quickly before? I was blown away by Cynthia last year, but her awful attitude and patronizing anyone who dares question her has left such a bad taste in my mouth. What a shame.

So. Effing. Rude. Nasty. Patronizing.
That was actually me who tweeted that to her. I was shocked that I got a response, and the response that I did... I was surprised. I'm still getting some heated responses from her followers. I was just being honest, and as polite as I could.
Maxkko, don't listen to her fans. They are as delusional, if not more as, as Cynthia. And good for you for speaking up. If only she had an actual conversation this time.

Appreciated the show much more on the second viewing, today's matinee. As an added bonus, I now have both a red and white shaker!
Also, didn't see it mentioned in this thread - they recorded the matinee today! Not sure if they're recording again tonight but I'm sure someone here will have the scoop if they are.

And it made salient points. It's like she's trying to make herself look bad
Ms. Erivo has certainly lost my respect. Not that I think she actually cares. But I choose how I spend my money and it certainly will not go towards any theatre tickets for productions that she is attached to going forward.
Pity - the girl has talent. But a tony does not give you carte blanche to say - do - or write what you want without consequence. Yes - her publicist should really be reeling her in.
And yes - she should take some lessons from Lin. Has Lin responded at all to this? I'd love to know his take on the whole fiasco.
Good on you, maxkko. Thank you for taking the time to write that note, and I'm sorry it was responded to with such disrespect and rudeness. It says a lot to Ms. Erivo.
There was nothing disrespectful of that note. For her to call you a "child" means she can't accept even the gentlest feedback without acting out. I still respect her because she's such an amazing talent but I've lost respect for her as a person.
Also you can just tell how her Tony win has made her 100x more vain and egotistical. Her Instagram bio literally says "UK actress and singer, yes you read correctly I'm both! Not more of one but all of both and more. Tony, Grammy, Emmy!" Yes, Cynthia... we can clearly see how fond of yourself you are. And we can also clearly see how much you love your awards. It's fine and good to be proud of yourself, but Cynthia goes overboard and manages to make it condescending and obnoxious.
What boggles my mind is that it's so easy to just draft up a quick note that says that she was only tweeting in support of the cast and her personal friend, she did not mention race, sorry the show is closing, wonderful people in the production, yadda yadda yadda. You would still have people commenting because, frankly, her tweets were moronic, but at least she could exude a little class at the end. This isn't rocket science. And frankly, that note seemed like a respectful plea from a fan. LMM, for all his fame, is so good at keeping a wonderful, fun, informative, intelligent Twitter feed absent of drama. Learn from him!
She keeps mentioning that she knows exactly what went down and that she talked to the cast, but I would really like to know whom she spoke to beyond Oak, and just who tried to get her to shut it down on Twitter (per the NYT article). I'd also like to know how the cast really feels about her considering all this nonsense she keeps tweeting.
At the end of the day, I'm still not sure why she would post those tweets if she knew everything about the financial situation, because that just highlights even more that Oak can't fill seats.

I fell that she genuinely doesn't believe she had any part in all of the mess. And she's probably not sure why people are still tweeting her about it. Like Trump, she will never apologize.
I certainly hope cast members say something to her the moment they walk offstage on Sunday. It boggles my mind they aren't say anything to her at this moment. I'm sure they don't condone it. Not even a text?! Like god damn. It's frustrating

I've got another reason: I think right now many fans besides mourning the loss of this show are also saddened that this talented, diverse cast is going to be out of work. There's an empathy factor -- most theater lovers (and most theater folk) know how tough it is to make it in this industry. Between jobs, there can be months or years of being a bartender or waitress. And TGC cast, for all its talent, is not necessarily Hollywood glamourous. The cast truly came in all shapes, skin tones, and dress sizes. And I think that people like Lin Manuel Miranda and most other theater stars have enough memory to remember the times they were living on fumes and shopping around their latest pipe dream.
But I get the impression that Cynthia thinks she's very much over that stage of her life. She thinks she's a big deal and the theater world should be honored that she's weighing in on this issue. I could be wrong but that's my read.

That sounds about right, the same way she felt the need to weigh in on Glenn Close's apology for being sick and unable to perform on Mother's Day...
Glenn Close is a class act and knows people will be upset for not seeing her perform, Cynthia had to go and ruin it by saying that actors shouldn't have to apologize for being human, when that wasn't even remotely the point.
