THERE'S A GOD IN HEAVEN
I'm surprised but not shocked. If Broadway is not in the cards and the plan is just to license it they'll still need a reference recording.

Hallelujah! It's such a beautiful score
I'm so happy!!! I'm still kind of sad it isn't going to Broadway but this eases the pain.
YES
YES YES YES YES

But did you really want to see THAT show on broadway? But yes, I'm so happy the score will recorded.
I was moved by it in La Jolla, and with some more tweaks (that were somehow not implemented for Paper Mill) it could be very successful on Broadway. Either way, I am jut grateful for a cast recording!
I was only hoping for a Broadway transfer to ensure a recording would be made. Glad they're making one anyway!!!

I'm with you all. I saw this in La Jolla, and while the staging of the show has been widely discussed and critiqued (both + and -) on these very boards, I'm glad I will always have access to the show through a cast recording. I really thought it was beautiful.
I have the German cast album from the 90s. Will love to have it in English.

While I am THRILLED that there will be a cast album, I'm a little discouraged as this makes it seem as if there are no plans to work on it further. I really think the show would be a hit if some changes were made.

the show will continued to be worked on, and future productions will arise . . . a cast album will help fuel interest . . . although this seems to be just an early stage rumor . . .
I loved the show musically/vocally so I'm excited to hear it again. But the production was a mess. I hope it's not licensed. Has a "3rd person" narrative musical every been successful? I think it's an awful way to write a play/musical.

Early stage rumor nothin', Ian Patrick Gibb and Erik Liberman both tweeted about it! So did Andy Mientus!

A cast album would have happened regardless of a Broadway transfer since it's Disney. They produce albums of all properties in house to utilize for marketing its licensing rights.

All are referencing the same online article. This recording has been talked about since La Jolla - and I don't think Disney is behind it . . . I think it's the brain child of Menken / Schwartz.
But, very excited about it . . . and I hope it happens. I am unsure if the entire cast would be able to be reassembled, with several spread all over the country . . . and would be interested to see how the handle the choir.
In checking my collection, I see I have 5 different musical vesions of the Hunchback story
1. Soundtrack from the movie
2. Hunchback Of Notre Dame - Dennis De young
3. Hunchback etc - by Elmer Hawkes
4. Notre Dame De Paris
5. Quasimodo Prince Of Fools by Michael Rapp
I can honestly say that I have not listened to these, or most of the theater cd's, for quite awhile. Too many & too little time.

The Disney produced JUNGLE BOOK in Chicago received no recording, even a reference recording, so that isn't necessarily true. Granted that show isn't intended to be available for licensing just yet as HUNCHBACK is presumed to be but there is a precedent.
I'll be so glad to have "Made of Stone," "Esmeralda" and the other new numbers preserved in English at last.
If Arden and Page are NOT featured on the recording then there is something wrong with the world!!!

If Andy Mientus tweeted about it, I think it's a safe bet Arden's gonna be on the recording.

Well, HoND is a much bigger show. So, that's why JB doesn't have anything. Isn't that show dead now?

They are a part of the USA cast, so I see why they won't be.

Jungle Book is not dead - Disney pictures would like everyone to sit tight until the new movie comes out . . . http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3040964/

I'm sure they will use the choir. It may be a long shot, but I would love if they used both La Jolla choir and Paper Mill choir. Probably won't happen but that would be epic.
I also am curious as to which artwork they would use for the cover art/booklet. I liked the La Jolla one to a certain extent but I thought the Paper Mill artwork was wonderful.

I hope they use the Papermill artwork. I thought it was a bit more professional looking.
