Tonight's the night!!! I can't wait to start seeing people's reviews I'm dying to know how it is and what ppl thought. I'm especially excited to hear about the great mystery Addaperl. If anyone in here is going to the premiere please come back and tell us what you thought!
So much for this taking The Lunt. I'll guess and say this runs until the end of 2024 just based on the names that are attached.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Based only on the one official photo and various other pics/clips I've seen online, the design feels more cluttered than opulent...as though the costume designer, scenic designer, and lighting designer were all working within their own bubbles instead of collaborating.
Looking forward to seeing more and hopefully being proved wrong!

Well, it's a limited run anyway. I don't think they announced when it's closing but it's definitely a limited run, as of right now.

Yep, my thought is that it's either short run to Labor Day and touring in fall 2024, or running to Christmas and kicking off leg two of the tour in 2025. The Marquis is so big, I wonder how long it can fill it for, at least the tour will help it get closer to recouping. The Marquis track record isn't the best...

While many plays of the last few years have struggled, I think it would be foolish to underestimate the audience for high-entertainment Black musicals. This show has only grown in cultural memory in the past several decades. Even the movie which so famously disappointed has become a major touchstone, and is screened very often in museums and theaters around the city as a reliable draw. If the production is good and if the talent is there onstage, it should be a hit. Waiting to see more, and I'm a little discouraged that (like the live TV version) it looks more like a production of the Wizard of Oz than a new take on "The Super Soul Musical." But if it works for the audience, this may be the rare show to pack the Marquis at least for a little while. l have friends who simply don't go to Broadway shows who lit up at mention of The Wiz coming back. I think a better comp could be something like MJ than other musical revivals. Or maybe not.
The principal cast will be led by Dana Cimone, making her national tour debut, as Dorothy, Alan Mingo Jr., returning to the role he originated on the pre-Broadway tour and played on Broadway as The Wiz, also making their national tour debuts Sheherazade as Glinda and Kyla Jade as Aunt Em/Evillene, D. Jermone (MJ the Musical, Hamilton) as the Tinman, Mykal Kilgore (Motown The Musical, The Book of Mormon tour) as the Lion and Elijah Ahmad Lewis (Ain't Too Proud, Motown The Musical) as the Scarecrow.
