TUCK EVERLASTING musical opening on Broadway, April 2016

The Tucks are (finally) heading to Broadway! The musical adaptation ofTuck Everlasting will open on April 17, 2016 at a Shubert Theater to be announced. Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, performances will begin on March 19; the production premiered at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre earlier this year, starring Andrew Keenan-Bolger. Casting for the Great White Way incarnation will be announced later.

Featuring music by Chris Miller, lyrics by Nathan Tysen and a book by Claudia Shear, Tuck Everlasting follows a young girl and her friendship with Jesse Tuck and his family, who become immortal after drinking from an enchanted spring. Based on the 1975 children’s novel by Natalie Babbitt, the story has twice been adapted for the screen.

The production will feature scenic design by Walt Spangler, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and sound design by Brian Ronan.

my guess is that this takes either the Belasco, the Broadway or the Broadhurst.

Ive been excited about this show for two years now, Jeremy Jordan sang a song from the show and it was beautiful. Can't wait!

Is this a "big" show? Is the Broadway a viable option, or would it fit better in one of the smaller musical houses (like say, the Broadhurst)?

I'm excited to hear the casting for this! Do you think AKB, Terence Mann and Carolee Carmello will be cast?

YES Terrence Mann. Anybody else chuckle about him playing "the Mann in the Yellow Suit?" Lol.

I read the book when I was about 11 or 12 and really enjoyed it, though I found it to be quite sad. I think it will translate beautifully if they do it right. The film adaptation screwed up Winnie's age. I got a weird feeling Sydney Lucas might step into the part since she's leaving Fun Home this year.

Any more word here? Particularly On Sale date?

^I think she is like 14 or almost 14, so probably too old. I believe the girl who played the role in Atlanta was far younger.

I wonder when they'll announce the full cast for this, assuming most of the Alliance cast transfers?

Carolee Carmello's 14th Broadway show and Terrence Mann's 13th... two of the greatest working theater actors! So happy for them!
