re: TV Commercials into Broadway shows

Yeah, I can picture the opening number for the Head On musical, tilted "Head On!" (with new and improved lyrics) :

HEAD ON! APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD!
HEAD ON! APPLY DIRECTLY TO YOUR SORE HEAD!
HEAD ON! APPLY DIRCTLY TO THE FOREHEAD!

(The cast repeats these lines in modulating keys for the duration of the song)

But in all seriousness, commcercials turned into musicals are probably not a good idea.

eBay. Christian Borle could reprise his role as eBay crooner guy!

^ The lyrics to that song in the new Doublemint commercial are so insipid. I cringe whenever the ad comes on.

I like the Doublemint comercial with the Twins that don't look like twins.

I second the Magic Bullet

Capital One, with a bunch of stone age men running around

Mandy Patinkin's cholesterol commercial. We already have the male lead.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I will only see the Mandy Patinkin Crestor musical if he goes up and down those really special escaltors and wears those oddly-fitting pants and sweaters like in the ads.

The Dell guy did a show recently, maybe we should have him reprise his role and do a show called "Dude, you're getting a Dell!"

re: TV Commercials into Broadway shows

I am actually surpised that no one has done a musical about the life of Ron Popeil (sp?).

Just think - the pocket fisherman, and all of the fun stuff that could be thrown it.

It actually could be a rags to riches story about the American dream... selling crap that no one needs and making a fortune.

WALMART!!!
at least with the older commercials, it would feature people talking about how Walmart helps them, and has changed their lives
it could be a series of songs, and monologues
and a showstopping finale complete with shopping carts and the stupid little smiley face guy

re: TV Commercials into Broadway shows

We've already got the Snapple theatre, Hilton theatre, Cadillac theatre. Do we really need the shows to product placements too?

I think y'all watch too much TV!

How about the Dunkin Donuts commercial where the mom and kids are in the car? swimming...oboe,....KARATE!!!!
Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat...
