Emily Skinner as Rayna James.
This would be great if they create a spot in the show that allows for country singers to make weekly guest appearances without having to play a role in the plot. Countless award winning country singers would LOVE to make their Broadway debuts plus this would entice ticket buyers.
The series was filmed entirely in Nashville and the country music industry embraced the series so an endless array of major country artists made cameos throughout the series run.

Lord, that show turned into such a trainwreck. But the music was so good. It was really the music and Juliette that kept me watching as long as I did -- she was such an interesting character and Hayden played her so well. I was rooting hard for the character to turn her life around, although I finally got worn down by the constant up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down. If they work with some of the songwriters they used on the show, and majorly tighten up the storyline -- which the format by itself will force them to do -- this could be good. They won't have time this time for sixteen million ups and downs.

Connie Britton had been quite vocal on all media when she was leaving the series so it wasn’t unexpected. We knew her character was being written out but we had no idea how. They lead her into scenarios to tease her demise, most notably the stalker plot line. I, like many, thought the stalker would kill her. When she made it out and that scenario wrapped itself up, that car accident came out of nowhere. Then we had her alive in the hospital, so all was good again. Her final demise was a doozy as THAT was unexpected as most things in life are. Connie Britton made sure Rayna James’ exit would be done realistically and respectfully.
Now... regarding this Broadway musical adaptation, without Rayna James, there is no purpose. NASHVILLE’s heart IS Rayna James. Everything else is built around her.
