Nothing else seems appealing. Dolly and Purple Rain were supposed to be big musicals but both seem to be DOA at the moment."
Last I heard, PURPLE RAIN had its Broadwayhouse and dates all set, and tickets would be going on sale very soon.
As for TWO STRANGERS, so glad to hear such great things about it so far. I might have to run to this one in case it closes early."
DOLLY had a Broadway theater lined up, too. Then it bombed out of town. PURPLE RAIN seems to be on the same path.

DOLLY still has a theater (albeit a different one) and is coming in 2026-27 (with major changes).
Just out of the show. It’s sweet and both leads are very good (especially him), but I didn’t love the music. It’s funny because the music seemed to be everyone’s criticism of MHE, but I enjoyed that music much more than this. Overall, funny and sweet with some solid performances. That’s kind of it for me.

I enjoyed this in London, but didn't see a need for it to transfer. Yesterday fully converted me. I don't know if it's seeing it where it's set or any updates they've made, a year apart in my viewings I couldn't really tell you what they were, but I LOVED this last night.
The set and staging are so, so clever; it looks simple but has endless ingenuity. Sightline-wise, I can't imagine there's a bad seat in the house as the design pushes everything front and center. In London, I felt like the show's balance was tipped too heavily towards Sam Tutty's character, but whether it's Christiani Pitts' performance or the updates, that's not such a problem anymore. They are both superb. I'd be surprised if both don't get nominated and he's got a shot at winning. The music doesn't break any boundaries, but it's full of strong numbers.
If you can't tell, I really, really liked this. This won't be my last visit, for a jolt of joy this is hard to beat.

I haven't seen this production yet, but can I assume that Christiani's character still sleeps with her sister's fiance? I've never been able to get past this plot point. How are we supposed to feel any sympathy towards her?

Um, Unless I missed something I did not pick up on that.

Maybe I should clarify, the fiancé as in his dad lol. This is the reason why her sister treats her so poorly and isn't invited to the wedding. Or did I see a completely different show? lol

That sounds like an interpretation but there was nothing definitive regarding this in the text. Certainly not something I walked away having given thought to. How fascinating! Curious to hear others thoughts.

That spoiler is literally the dramatic core of the show? It explains everything about the lead the female journey does on.
I’m not sure how her character exists without it?

Want to check this out. Need some sweetness and joy…especially these days. Too bad balcony seats are so iffy with the poles obstructing some views. Better to be far left or right?

But it's never definitely mentioned like I said. It can be inferred. I just thought her and the sister didn't get along, and that she knew he was a cheater but that could have been with anyone. Never once does she say she slept with him directly.

She absolutely did mention it explicitly in London. It’s literally the point.

Well that's why im bringing it up because there seems to have been a change.

I saw it on Friday. I do not remember the exact line but I think it is pretty clear that the "spoiler" above happened.

I texted my friends who I went with and it was news to them too lolol. Well, can't wait to go back and look for the clues more closely

I could not open any of the spoilers. Can someone just state explicitly what it is. I dont remember anything that would have been a throwaway. Is she pregnant, which would certainly further complicate life for her and her sister's relationship.

I was there Sunday night, and she clearly says that she did what you’re referencing. No clues. It was plainly spoken.

Question for the folks who have seen this: Better to sit in the left or right balcony? Or is there no difference for this production?
Thanks.

Yes, I can definitely back you up and say, at least at The Kiln, she did definitely sleep with Sam Tutty's father!
