Does this overlap with Amy Adam's show at all? That would be worth the flight for me. I love Elliot's direction so very curious to see what she does with such a simple show.
There’s no end date yet for this one but I’d imagine it will have ended by May 23, when “Menagerie” starts.
Great casting! I wondered the same thing as RippedMan. Wondering the same thing about Cabaret and Jerusalem. Pretty soon I'm actually going to have to go through some lists and look into planning a Spring trip for real. I was thinking about a Fall one to catch Saoirse Ronan, but it didn't work out.
For my money, I prefer Bartlett's "Bull" (a kind of informal companion play to "Cock"
- but this casting is great. For those who don't remember: Jade Anouka was (in my opinion) the biggest standout in the Donmar Shakespeare Trilogy - the all-female Shakespeare trilogy set in a women's prison. Jade Anouka played Marc Antony, Hotspur, and Ariel in the Tempest, and all 3 of her performance blew me away.
re: “Jerusalem”, I’d have to imagine “Cabaret” will still be playing. They’re not gonna go through transforming the theatre for a short 3 month run, I’d really have to imagine they’ll extend into the summer.

Did the board censor it to just "C" when the news item with the full title is right at the top of the page? Interesting.
I'd rather see Taron Egerton's though ![]()

Looks like the run is from 5 March - 5 June 2022. I was planning a trip to London for February. I may have to push it off a month or two to catch this.
Desperately need this to extend just a couple weeks.
If y’all time your trips right be sure to check out Terry Gilliam’s “Into the Woods” at The Old Vic.

Any particular reason why? I’ll have just seen the Encores production and don’t even really need to see that, but can’t pass up Sara and Heather. And I’m not familiar with Terry Gilliam’s work.
^Based on the way you worded that, I can't tell how much you already do or don't know about Gilliam, so at the risk of over-explaining:
Gilliam was one of the members of Monty Python, and went on to have a notable career as a filmmaker, with a really strange, distinct auteur style to his work. His film work is often weird, dark, fantastical, sometimes absurdist. And he's also known for his illustrations/animations, which have a similarly bizarre, distinct visual flair to them. All this to say that Terry Gilliam is an iconic (though divisive) artist, and Into the Woods seems like a really good fit for him. Not to mention he has rarely directed for the stage.
Again, apologies if I'm telling you stuff you already know, but hopefully I also answered your question in the process.
Just FYI, I did not authorize the change to the title of this thread and those who changed it should feel deep shame for ruining what i thought was a brilliant thread title. Shame.
lol
As for Gilliam, for all the reasons laid out, this all but promises to be a real event.
Thanks for the info! I know he *is* a director and I’m familiar with some of his movies in title only, so not sure if I’m going to grab a ticket since my week in London next June is already fairly filled out.
But we will not be missing Cock if it extends its run. My husband would be pissed.
It is a great cast - but having sat through the play once , you couldn't pay me to sit through it again.
All y’all hoping for an extension of Cock. Heh.

It's not a great play, even WITH the casting...and £85 is a lot for a straight play. It almost translates into Broadway prices--without the UK producers having to pay American union fees..

Do you live in the UK Jordan ? I can’t work it out!

Between this, Amy Adams in The Glass Menagerie, The Old Vic's Into the Woods and Punchdrunk's new show, spring in London is on fire.

I have no previous knowledge on the play. How likely is it that we get a bum or nudity in this play.
