Carrie, but without that weird pseudo-grunge update. The original production had its share of problems (dancing pig men) but the actual sound of it wasn't one of them, and the weedling too-serious 90s guitars of the revivals were way more embarrassing than the campy blowout pop of the original, which at least felt self-assured. They took all the irony out and nothing was left.
I said this in the other thread, but Dance of the Vampires! It would need to be entirely done from scratch and be a faithful translation of the German version, and it just needs to be dripping with gothic campiness. The producers of the original Broadway production mistook the fact that the musical, in all its bizarre, over-the-top campy nature, is already humorous when done correctly, so there’s no need for the sponge d*** jokes. Open it around Halloween for added fun!
I also want Norm Lewis to play Count von Krolock. It just needs to happen.

“Funny Girl” and “Sweet Charity” both starring Annaleigh Ashford. I’d also take Sutton’s transfered Charity (with a larger orchestra) along with Ashford’s Fanny.
They/them.

Although Encores gave us just a brief snippet of Milk and Honey recently, I think a fully staged revival of the Jerry Herman classic is due. I'd have Mandy Patinkin play the Robert Weede role of the Israeli widower and Rebecca Lucre as the American widow tourist. The comedic antics of Fran Dresher would fill in for the original Molly Picon. The timeliness of the show would be very relevant with today's headlines although it takes place during the war of 1947.
This would be probably an Encores production, but I would like to see one of the Princess Theater musicals that were staged at the 299 seat Princess Theater between about 1915-1919, with scores by Jerome Kern and P. G. Wodehouse. I'm always reading about how historic and important they were. Kern scholar John McGlinn, who devoted a lot of his life to Kern, including issuing a three CD set of every song every written for any Show Boat stage production or film, also put out a CD of Jerome Kern overtures, which included the Princess Theater Overtures. I found them light and airy and entertaining.
In 1982 hundreds of manuscripts that were believed to have been lost were found in a warehouse in Secaucus, New Jersey, and they included the complete scores to at least three of the Princess Theater musicals, So a Princess Theater revival would be doable.
Not many of the songs survived to become standards. "Till the Clouds Roll By" was the title given to the MGM biopic of Kern after his 1945 death, and is actually popular with jazz musicians. Julie's well known song from Show Boat, "Bill", was written by Kern and Wodehouse for a Princess Theater production, but not used.
Every Broadway musical ever made, revived and performed all at the same time, performed entirely by Nathan Lane. Once this happens Broadway will have achieved its true purpose and can finally ascend. Until this happens, we are merely struggling in futility as we create imperfect works.

I would love to see Nathan's Dolly.
Lots of other good ideas here - I would certainly welcome a new Mame with Sutton Foster or Man of LaMancha with maybe Raul Esparza.
But my number one dream revival is City of Angels. Let's reunite some of the Falsettos cast and have Brandon Uranowitz as Stine, Christian Borle as Stone, and Stephanie J. Block as Donna/Oolie.

I love your Damn Yankees idea.
As for Mame - its weird how perception of age works because Sutton is older now (43) than Lansbury was when she originated the role (41). And I think that age works well because Mame covers about 25 years in her life, so starting on the younger end works. Just my take.
There's a lot of great ideas here that I'd love to see, but my "white whale" is consistently Movin' Out. I saw it at Pantages in college and LOVED the choreography. I didn't know anything about the show before going (comp tickets were a great perk of my school) but had been dancing for many years at that point and that show stuck with me. I know it's just another jukebox musical, but there's not a whole lot on Broadway currently where dance is the focus, so I think it could fill a good role, there. I'm just always bummed that I never got to see it again as it completely closed up shop by the time I was able to start buying tickets for things I wanted to see.
My previous joke answer aside, I agree with the previous poster on City of Angels. I never saw it as I was too young at the time, but everything I've heard about the production sounded amazing, and I love the cast recording. I really hope it gets revived, though I honestly don't know enough of it to be able to suggest proper casting. Other than my go-to that Nathan Lane is a necessity somewhere of course.
I know it's not viable for a full-scale revival, but I'd love to see Encores take on Fade Out-Fade In with Leslie Kritzer as Hope Springfield/Lila Tremaine.
Was thinking about this and how i said Funny Girl. I think Sutton Foster would do great in this role. Here are videos of her singing Don’t Rain On My Parade and I’m The Greatest Star
I think Mame would work with someone who is a master of sophisticated comedy who doesn’t shy from physical humor. IMO, one reason Lucille Ball didn’t work other than her being way too old was that her brand of comedy wasn’t what was needed for the role. It needs to be played by someone who can really carry the bite and wit of those lines.
