I saw the final matinee and echo a lot of the comments made here.
I wasn't familiar with the Avett Brothers nor their music, but I'm a fan of Stark and John from their previous work. Both of them [along with Adrian] are superb and really elevate the material.
The book needs a lot of work as stated here as there's many times during the 90 minutes where it dragged. I think the choice needs to be made to either attempt to streamline some of the plot or as others have mentioned extend the show into a traditional 2 act musical.
The scenic design and the big reveal of the shipwreck was really incredible and I thought the lighting design was very good as well.
The music was fine, but as others have pointed out it starts to sound the same after awhile. That being said - John, Stark, and Adrian sing the heck out of it.
i didn't see the twist coming, so I was completely shocked by it, but I may have been in the minority.
After the show, I overheard a few people on the way out saying they had seen the show a few times in DC as well some who had seen it in Berkley.
I'd see the show again on Broadway and would hope they'd be keen to work on it and work out the kinks.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
I guess the big question is when they bring this in (and of course, where). The recent Variety article hinted that they may try to slide it in this season. My guess is that they wait until the fall and try for the Booth.
That merch has been available on that site since the end of their run at Arena Stage. It’s not been specifically for Broadway, should it actually run here.
Mr.Liir said: "Should be fall 2024. I believe they have a house lined up (not sure if contracts have been signed) but things are in motion."
Yeah, it's transferring, just figuring out what theater.

Just got an email from Ticketmaster that John Gallagher Jr is doing a concert in Brooklyn, so maybe that’s his announcement. Doesn’t seem like it’s Swept Away yet.
