PLEASE -- everyone give this person a chance to voice her own opinion!! I don't agree with it (because I LOVED Drowsy), but I can respect it. It was how she felt about the show. Same thing for loving something that others didn't. There are lots of shows that are LOVED by the masses (and critics) that I just don't care for. But that's what personal opinion is all about.
EDIT: She's even asking for what she might have missed that made her not enjoy the show. (OOOPS, just fixed the "he's" to "she's.")
My dad thought the same thing....So no, your not the only one who thinks this.

And yet another stone cast at the unrepentant sinner by a John Simon wannabe.
What the hell is going on with you people that you feel compelled to deride somebody with such venom over such a trivial matter?

I didn't find Martin's commentray to be annoying, but I was definitley bored with the show. After hearing everyone on this board's opinions on the show I went in with high expectations, and the only thing I felt enjoyable was the acting. This was the letdown of this season for me.
why would you spend 130 dollars... that i think was your flaw. I wouldn't spend that much for a seat.
I feel like if you pay a lot you expect a lot. I payed 100 for La Cage and i was sooooooooooooo mad because the show sucked. There were good elements but i couldn't believe i wasted my time and money in it.
Aw I loved LaCage, but anyways, Clive Barnes, one of the most respected critics of NY, panned Drowsy, and a lot of people like myself and my friend who saw the show with me, weren't impressed by it. So you're not the only one who disliked this show. Don't worry.

"Aw I loved LaCage"
I don't think her "critics" are scalding her so much for not being particularly keen on TDC as they are for her having a better time at the Wedding Singer.
The implications have been that if she preferred the former to the latter she didn't get TDC or that she has no sense of what is good or bad theater.
Thereis1Director, Ouch...
This has gotten out of hand. Badmouthing a show that has been on Broadway for over 10 years, seen more touring productions in more countries than you,me, and every other thread poster on here, and has had a movie made on it's 10 anniversary....yea your right, a show can last on broadway 10 years through people who have no taste like myself. Im sure RENT really sucks. Bravo....what a point you make. Your brilliant!
This thread was suppose to be about the Drowsy Chaperone...but trying to pick apart my taste to make my points invalid, well thats just pathetic. Next thing your gonna tell me is that Wicked is a flop? Im waiting to laugh on this side...
Oh and Thanks Hanna:
I appreciate it when people are nice to me on here which seems very rare. I just went into this with very high I mean "JERSEY BOYS" high expectations...and they weren't met. However, the actors and costumes were wonderful!! Maybe I will have to try lottery at this one and give it a second try, I mean maybe I will like it more the second time.

Just a little lesson:
Opinion: A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof. Not right or wrong.
Ex: Meat it gross. (That is an opinion)
Fact: Meat comes from an animal (That is proven which is why it is a fact)
People here are expressing opinions which others are calling "wrong." You can disagree which then is YOUR opinion.
Simmer down folks.
Alright- while I have no interest in the Wedding Singer. I will most likely see it on tour (if it has one), but there is very little that I WOULDN'T see on tour.
However, I am a huge RENT fan AND Drowsy fan. They are obviously as different as can be. In my opinion, RENT has the stronger score and more serious/heartfelt message. Drowsy, however, should have something that speaks to every theatre fan. In my opinion that factor IS Bob Martin. Without his character/personality the show would not interest me at ALL! .I actually enjoyed Drowsy more a few weeks after I saw it then immediately after I saw it. I avoided listening to the recording before seeing the show, and I listened to it several times after seeing the show.
I think you missed the point of the show.
I loved "Drowsy." I think it really speaks to those of us who are terminally addicted to muscials! To each his own.....

ehh, the truth does hurt sometimes. Wicked is not a flop at all. It was acutally once a respectable show. I think its gone down hill quite a bit, but oh well. This thread is about the Drowsy Chaperone. And I think if you give it another chance, you will really see the magic taking place on that stage. When you go to see it again, take in what Bob is doing and think about if you really are a true musical theatre fan...that is you. We have all done it, and thats what makes the point of his role. Didnt mean to come across so crass, I just cant stand RENT.
