The Heart of Robin Hood

I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I just yelled "WHAT?" at my computer.
Without bread we'd just be hungry but without theatre we'd be dead

So... they think this will actually be profitable? Huh? Are they getting a super deep discount on the Marquis?

The Heart of Robin Hood

Is this a play? Musical?

The Heart of Robin Hood

I believe it's a musical. There's previews of songs from the show on their website. It has a very folksy sound.

The Heart of Robin Hood

Sorry but WTF????? Do they REALLY think this will be commercial !

The Heart of Robin Hood

It's coming because it's good, it's fun, it's theatrical, it's been a hit at the RSC, ART, and the current incarnation in Canada. The director is a major talent, who had a critically acclaimed run at BAM working with the same playwright on an adaptation of Metamorphosis.

Why not read up on the damned thing before dismissing it?

The Heart of Robin Hood

I think its a play with music but not a musical if that makes any sense.
#12

The Heart of Robin Hood

Yeah, I don't mind the music at all, even if it does all sound kind of similar. But that RSC trailer makes it look super cool.

I think it will still a tough sell in that space.

The Heart of Robin Hood

So there will be two RSC productions on Broadway simultaneously?

This, and the two-part Wolf Hall?
#14

The Heart of Robin Hood

Three, if you include Matilda.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

What's with the down reactions? No, I hadn't heard of this piece either, but it has a great cast and actually sounds pretty interesting. Better this than some tired revival or something.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

>>I think its a play with music but not a musical if that makes any sense.<<

So, more like One Man, Two Guvnors? I'll have to move this in the "eligibility" thread.

The Heart of Robin Hood

I haven't yet been able to get excited for Wolf Hall (knowing nothing of the source material), but this looks fun.

The Heart of Robin Hood

it is for only a 6 month engagement since ON YOUR FEET is set to start previews Oct. 5.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Not to mention, it will be nice to have that handsome director hanging around Broadway.

The Heart of Robin Hood

Wow, I am surprised that Broadway is going to have two shows that will open at the same time, that are both aimed at the family market, this could kill Finding Neverland and ART and NederlanderTheatres would have been responsible.

If I was Harvey Weinstein I be spitting feathers.

Saw the show last week here in Winnipeg and it was spectacular!! This announcement comes as no surprise to me and many who saw it

The Heart of Robin Hood

I saw a production at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2013. The play has something for everyone and is lots of fun. Adults and children loved it. The production was a hit. The show is worth seeing.
