What do you think it is?
What's going to be the new "Spring Awakening", if you will.
I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say: In The Heights.

Hands down In The Heights...just saw it Friday night...absolutely incredible!!
In the Heights has the critical and popular appeal needed to be the hit of the year.
In The Heights
I'm gonna say August: Osage County-sure, it's not a musical, but it's doing the near-impossible-bringing people back to a straight play in droves. And it's good, high-quality drama as well.

In a lackluster year, NOTHING will be the so called "Hottest" show of the year. Its going to be a feat for any show ( new or old) to capture the type of reviews that SITPWG garnered, but of course there wil be a show that wins the popularity contest. Having not seen Cry Baby I cant say whether its a big dancing musical, but so far ITH captures and modernizes the spirit of big, old time dance musicals. The dance in that show is what gives it the edge over most of the musicals that have opened thus far.

Yeah I thought In The Heights would be the newest hit.
Definitely In the Heights.
"In The Heights" without a doubt, and I am not basing that on the quality of the show (as much as I LOVE it !!)
Just saying that because of the buzz at (and around) the theatre the times that I have seen it.
Seems to be all people are talking about.

Some of the things I heard outside the ITH theatre this weekend made me so happy! I'm anxious for the reviews.

In the heights, for sure...and rightfully so

In The Heights already has a good deal of buzz going, and their grosses are great for a show that's still in previews. So I'd say In The Heights has a very good chance of being the big hit of the season.
In the Heights. And that show deserves it, unlike Spring Awakening. Amazing.
What about SOUTH PACIFIC ? There's a lot of buzz for that too and it hasn't even opened yet ! Or are we talking only new shows ?

But SA is one of your favorite shows?
In The Heights.
In the Heights, without a doubt.
By a mile the revival of Sunday in the Park with George playing at the Roundabout. See it for yourself before you question me.
In the Heights? It was a mediocre romp at best Off-Broadway. Pricilla Lopez was the only real strong point for me. The choreography was fun, but the score? Come on!
There are a couple of problems with that, Jv.
(and let me preface by saying that I loved "Sunday")
First problem is that its a limited run... other problem is that it has limited appeal. I think "Heights" appeals to a broader range of people. Just my .02
SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE extends to Tony Sunday, June 15
