Great reviews, thanks to eveyone that posted one. It's good to hear that the guys are doing fantastic in LA. I'm sure they'll create a bunch of Jersey Boys regulars down in LA, or anywhere else the tour is going.
On a side note, I'm sure Erich has been busy but I wonder if he put together the answers to the fan Q&A yet.
I know many people on this board have seen the Sherry cast already, but what have people who have seen only the new SF cast for the first time say about their experience? I hope they've liked it, because I'm planning to take two of my friends in college to see it soon. I really wanted them to see the Sherry cast, but as they couldn't make it I'm taking them to see the new cast. I've been hearing good things about the new cast, and I'm pretty sure any Jersey Boys show will be great! Has anyone here taken new people to the new cast? What did they say (having NOT seen the Sherry cast)?
When I rush, there are always a few people who have never seen the Sherry cast, they're usually tourist, but a few people that live in the bay area evey now and then. The one thing that is common among all of them, they always say they loved and enjoyed the show.
On a side note, is the new cast officially called the Dawn company because I've only heard them being called the SF/Chicago company.
JERSEY BOYS needs your help. What was usually a sold-out run has suddenly become less-than-half house each week.
The Curran Theatre seats almost 1700 but currently, there are only about 300 seats being sold per show at top of each week. Numbers increase (slightly) on weekends.
Half-house = Less money for the company This effects everyone, including actors, crew, ticket sellers, ushers, merchandise.

Eug, when did this trend start? Everytime I go it seems like a full house, but then I go on the weekends and I can't see up into the balcony and mezz from the orchestra. I'm hoping this is only just a slow period and ticket sales will pick up when the summer tourist season gets going. Maybe people were waiting for the new cast to be reviewd by the press. Who knows, let's just hope sales pick up, because it would suck if they decided to shorten the extension.
It's more than a little odd because they actually broke records when they opened here. It's not like the quality of the show has gone down significantly, either. I don't think Jersey Boys is the kind of show with diminishing returns, or at least that it would happen this quickly.
When I was there a week and a half ago, the entire mezz, all the rush seats and (it seemed) like most of the orch was full. That was a Tuesday night.

Before the "Sherry" cast left, SHN was releasing tickets one-week at a time, so there was a sense of urgency. People had a mentality that they'd miss the show all-together if they didn't buy tickets. Hence, the sold-out run.
But when the new cast came in, SHN opened ticket sales until September 30. This dispelled the "sense of urgency" and people are more in a state of mind: "Oh, I have a few months to dilly-dally."
The orchestra gets mostly full but the mezzanine and balcony are not nearly half-full now.
Tickets are expected to pick-up in mid-June/July because of summer tourism.
But right now, (this is when it gets personal), a lot of house-ushers aren't being called to work because there's no need for a full-staff if it's half-house. I haven't worked in almost 3 weeks!

Yeah, that sounds familiar. Happened with Phantom...but it took 4 years. (No offense, of course.)

Yeah I have a friend who is an usher at the Curran, she hasn't been called in either. Albeit she did go on vacation for a week but they haven't asked her to come in since she's been back, about 2 weeks now. And this kind of blows, I thought about applying to be an usher during the summer. Updated On: 5/29/07 at 11:53 PM
Oh man... I must get myself to the Curran to see the show again! I haven't had a chance to see the new cast yet. Yeah, mll - I was contemplating applying to be an usher over the summer as well... I guess that idea is out.
Get to the Curran if you can if for nothing else to see Jarrod as Frankie. I have seen 4 Frankies, including JLY a couple of times and Jarrod's performance is top notch, second only to JLY. JLY told me he loves Jarrod because he has the "heart" of Frankie. He is also an absolute doll.

Me rushing clearly won't solve the problem, but...

That is very sad. But if the attendance is so low, will they sell the tickets at the half price booth? I mean, wouldn't it be better to have a full house with less ticket revenue than nearly 1/6 of the house with even less ticket revenue? I'm sure for a half price, lots of people (plus tourists) will come and see the show again. I really want to see the current SF cast but I just don't have a time until July. No I'm not "dilly dally-ing" ;P I will be on the road practically every day in June. And I'll be in South SF but it's Monday night!
