Thank you BroadwayWorld, for dimming the BWW logo in honor of Joan.
Maybe your action will shame the troglodytes at the League into taking appropriate action.

I think people should dim the damn lights themselves in an act of civil disobedience. Be punk rock about something for once in your lives. If y'all love Joan as much as you claim, I mean.
Can't some queen just flip a switch?
I signed.

If it's only those theaters, I'm wondering where the beat place to be is. I'm thinking KINKY BOOTS.
NICE!
I've come to the sad conclusion that dimming of the lights is far more based on the deceased's celebrity than any connection to theatre.
I have no objections to ANYone being honored; but a theatre stalwart with well over 40 credits (in mainly featured roles) was ignored, while people with more "name recognition" and scant theatrical credits do get the respect.

Yes absolutely. Joan was at KB opening night and was vocally supportive as well. Nice gesture, Jujumycn theaters.
The Shuberts and Nederlanders will have to follow. Otherwise, they'll look churlish.

"The Shuberts and Nederlanders will have to follow. Otherwise, they'll look churlish."
Nonsense. The others didn't join in for Steinbrenner.
"Let this be a lesson. You can't talk crap about people for 30 years and be elevated to "great lady" status by everybody. You just might piss off the person who controls the dimmer switch."
Really, pretty much the case. Williams got the nod b/c he had been on Broadway in the past five years and went to school at Juilliard. I don't see how it matters that Rivers made fun of her own looks, that she crassly did it to others is likely the primary reason she was denied the honor. She was tacky, mean and negative.
If it had to do with celebrity, Tharon Musser would not have been honored, nor Doris Eaton Travis or Harry Edelstein.
Excuse me, we had the theaters darken for that man of all theater seasons, James Gandolfini? Come on, folks. Really?

Assuming Nederlanders and Schuberts will follow. The Broadway League really effed this one up. God, they look awful. So many outraged fans....
I'll be outside a Jujamcyn theater to honor her tomorrow night.

Start a boycott of Broadway. I won't cross any of your picket lines.
Namo is right. I won't see any Broadway show until they dim the lights for Lea Michele.

I agree that the Shuberts and Nederlanders will follow suit and well they should. This is becoming a PR debacle for The League. After all credit is easy, it's money that's hard.
I hope they do. It would be nice to stand there on 45th Street with hundreds of fans to celebrate her life tomorrow night, even for that one minute.

I couldn't agree more, Jordan.
The lights of the Helen Hayes theater will be dimmed as well.
I hope many theatres dim their lights- It just seems like the right thing to do.
Even WWE did a nice tribute to her...

I thought that was going to be a joke but that was actually sweet.

Yes, that was a very nice tribute.
It shows you to what depths Broadway has sunk when even professional wrestling shows more class than the arbitors of Broadway honors.
I think the chances of the other theaters falling in line with Jujamcyn are pretty good. I think they know it would make them look bad if they didn't do it.
This is not the right set of circumstances to re-write the rules or tighten them. They shouldn't do that when someone has just died. That seems wrong.
