DANIEL BREAKER YOU ARE SO FANTASTIC.

Saw the show tonight and wow is the best word to describe it. Really impressed with the band and love the staging. I hope it gets the Tony nods but I just don't see the old guard voters going for it. In fact there was an entire group of seniors in the back of the orchestra ready for the show with their hearing devices; needless to sayt hey didn't need them for this performance.
Nice audience on hand and Kevin Bacon was in the house, so I can now claim a degree of seperation if someone needs it in the Keving Bacon game. Updated On: 6/4/08 at 11:03 PM
I love the OBC! Got it the minute it came out on iTunes. Amsterdam is my favorite, but it reminds me of La Vie Boheme a teenie bit. I'm not a Scaryotype yet, though. Have to see the show first!
I appreciate that you like the OBC, but please don't compare anything in this show to Rent. Please don't. It's not that I don't like Rent, it's just that it's so unnecessary to do so.
MusicalTheatreFan3, 32, 333, etc. Stop posting a million threads an hour. I hearby declare, (with my Scaryotypes' permission), that you never can be a SCARYOTYPE, 'cause your posts are toooooo damn scary!? Updated On: 6/5/08 at 12:29 AM
Thanks for posting the Daniel Breaker interview. I love how he incorporated the other shows on Broadway into what he was saying. I especially agree with his statement on the great diversity of shows on Broadway right now... a little something for everyone and so much to appreciate.
I'm really hoping he gets that Tony, but like he said... it'll be a great night either way!
Matt, if you have NOT seen PS, it's impossible to get an inkling of the stage dynamics from the CD alone. Take a chance, spend 25.00! Updated On: 6/5/08 at 11:34 PM
If you haven't seen the show, I'd imagine that the cast recording makes very little sense, at least in terms of the characters, other than Narrator, Youth and Mother.
Yeah, I figured it was that kind of show. Sort of like Spring Awakening, which disappointed me greatly when I saw it. But I can remain open-minded about Passing Strange and I hope seeing it turns me into a fan. It's happened before.
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
The cast of the Tony-nominated Best Musical Passing Strange will perform "Keys" — the call-and-response portion of the new musical at the Belasco Theatre that features its Tony-nominated creator and star, Stew, singing, "It's alright . . ." — on the 62nd Annual Tony Awards telecast June 15 . All I can say is: WATCH OUT, first 3 rows of Radio City!!
I guess I made a mistake...someone asked Stew what song he wil performed.. he said 'Part of Keys" not the whole song....I thought I heard him say... part keys..part amsterdam.. sorry my bad!
Hi Jay, no, you didn't make a mistake...I think the Keys/Amsterdam number has to be "edited down" for time constraints. It'll be great anyway.. It's going to be the creme de la creme! Scream after me: "And, it's ALLLLLLLL RRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGT!!!!!!"

Just missed it, Benky (boo-hoo) can you post it on YouTube?...I'm glad it went over well.
BTW, just got back from a STUPENDOUS!!!!!!! South Pacific!!! Not to be missed by anyone, anywhere!!! Last row Loge was GOOD! I was sobbin' like a baby when he sang "This Nearly Was Mine"!!
BTW, coming out of the Bistro Restaurant, ran into Heidi going to the (Belasco). Mentioned that we would love to invite them to our next party. She said, yeah, leave a note. I love this woman...she's so "normal" for a rock chick. Anyway, everyone visit Bistro (Saju) across from the Belasco. Killer moules , pate', salmon, steak au poivre, etc. And the service is great! I LOVE this place.
addendum 6/08: JAYSTARR!! (and Scaryotypes) !! OMG!! We are mentioned... Posted On: 6/8/08 at 11:47 PM
