Glad to hear Marian Seldes is such a strong supporter of the show!
I haven't posted on this thread since seeing the show about a week and half ago, but have to say I completely fell in love. I can't stop listening to the recording and everyone I have "forced" to listen to it has fallen in love too. I definitely plan on seeing it again on my next trip. It is so incredibly moving and I felt very connected to it.
"Your kid in the play is looking for something in life that only exists in art"....
"Turn your life into a work of art"
"Your mother's love may seem insane, 'cause she knows everythang....."
"Music is the freight train in which God travels."
"The universe is a toy in the mind of a boy."
Or, "Right When it was Starting to Feel Real."
" i remember when i owned everything. the sun and the moon and the rain and my domain"
"and life is a movie too starring u. your whole family is the cast and crew. thats a little secret between god and u."
"the real is a construct. its the raw nerves private zone. its the personal sunset. your drive off into alone"
"Well those LA ladies In their Mercedes Locked their doors If he just sneezed Now he's like, "Bitch, please... She gave me her keys."
"And I’m blessed to entertain The crowd laughs and swoons It’s loud guitars and champagne. And I sleep well past noon. But I’ve got a lot to explain, To myself not to you. Like who lost track of her pain. While working their wound."
Marian Seldes scares me a little bit. She was standing right next to me at In the Heights lotto and kept staring at me. She's intense. Now I wish I had brought up PS to her! haha.
I believe she's been an actress for about 200 years. Born in a trunk. (And a fan of everything theatrical!) I first saw her in DEATHTRAP in the 70's I believe she was in it at least 5 years or more and never missed a single show.
I see on the Joe's Pub website today that the PS album release party on July 13th is already sold out. And just when I'd managed to rearrange my schedule to go.
He goes to the Telephone Bar downtown with a friend of his, who is a pretzel vendor. They have 5 or 16 beers, and he goes, you know the character in your play. He's looking for something in life that can only be found in art. The real? It's doesn't exist. The real is a construct. (Not verbatim of course. I'm sure a couple of other people may have written down or remember it exactly).
I am FINALLY going to see Passing Strange yayayayaya!!!!!!! Im so excited, however I see the broadwaybox discounts were pulled. A while back I asked about the Youth tix. If Im bringing two people under 25 can they get an additional ticket for me? Some said on here that they give it to anyone. Is that true? Thanks in advance
Some time ago we had a dress rehearsal … it was free. Sorry we forgot to tell you about it. I invited this guy whose office is on Lafayette and Astor. He sells pretzels. We sat him in your seat in the front row. We went to a bar and had 5 or 16 beers and he looked at me and said "The Real.” "The real is not real. The real is a construct. The real is a creation. The real is artificial. The kid in your play is looking for something in life that can only be found in art."And I was like "Damn, pretzel man. You're one heavy mother****er!”
