I've seriously rarely had this happen with me after seeing a show. I've become like so In The Heights obssesive that it's insane. This show was seriously one of the most beautiful things that I've seen in a LONG time.
It came at a time where I was really in a slump about Broadway. I felt like I really wasn't interested in it as much as I had been, and things just didn't seem to be going right for me musical theatre-wise.
I saw this show and it instantly reminded me why I loved the theatre so much. It had so much heart, and I just fell in love with the show. I really can't believe that it's effected me this much, but it really has.
I love this show, and I wish it every possible success.
aw judas, i feel the same way and lol about the crybaby thing.

So I was at the show the other night in partial view in row V. The lady next to me had seen the show before and was talking to her husband and kept asking herself what you can't see. So after like 5 minutes, I was like, "Oh you just can't really see the faces at the first number of the second act when they're on the fire escape." She was like, "OH YEAH! RIGHT AFTER THEY BANG!" I was DIEING laughing and could not help it at all... oh some people are hilariously amazing!
Here's what you do if you want to listen to the show(s): Go to Sirius.com, and sign up for a free 3 day trial (It actually IS just a free trial, no strings attached. They only ask for name and e-mail). Launch the online player to channel 77, and...ta da.
Here's a podcast I did with Andrea Burns and Robin de Jesus. I hope you enjoy them. You can leave a comment on our site (www.dctheatrescene.com) in the Leave A Reply Box.
I agree with Judas' thoughts. In the Heights is the best Broadway show I may have ever seen, at least production-wise. (Keep in mind I haven't seen as many as others). It was new, different, and gave me one of the most intense emotional responses I've ever had on Broadway.
so i've come to drop some love for this amazing show. sadly i live in california and my chances of seeing it soon are pretty much zilch (although i am keeping fingers crossed for the first tour to be the tba show in the san francisco broadway season).
but anyway, i got the cast recording when it came out a week ago and have been listening to it non-stop. the story is so great, and the music is just beautiful and inspiring. several times already i've just sat and listened through while following along with the lyric booklet. the show just moves me. i'm sure everyone in this thread feels the same.
ahhhh, in the heights is just an incredibly moving work. i can't freaking wait until i actually get to see it live someday.
Im from Cali too, los angeles area. I had the wonderful opportunity to catch In the Heights in previews this past february. I was moved, and this is by far the BEST show i have seen. Im kind of sad i dont live in ny, because i would see this show every chance i get. Im hoping it does an la stop, im seriously going to buy tickets for every night, lol (if i can afford it). And i am planning another trip back so I can watch it again, I don't think the tour would be the same unless lin manuel was going to do it. I love the soundtrack, but this show just ROCKS when you experience it! I hope it takes all the 13 tony nominations!!
This isn't completely In the Heights related, but there is no separate Robin love thread Just got finished watching Fat Girls. Really liked it... but felt like it needed more Robin!

are you saying ITH is better than RENT? Hairspray? Xanadu? i think that is very large statement, however, you are entitled to your opinion. glad that show touched u like it did, u should go see more shows tho!
i dont think that was directed towards me... but it is definitely better than those shows even though i love all of them (and rent is in fact my favorite show for sentimental reasons, but overall well maybe, the context of the shows... idk who knows, who cares?) But how can you even compare, they are all different and unique in their own ways.

Micah,
Asking VERY politely that you dont SPAM the thread--- there is basically one (A "LOVE" thread) for every show, and people post of them because they share the same sentiment about that particular show.
There are NUMEROUS other threads where you can post your dislike for "ITH" - ( I think I saw another thread where you did the same)
Everyone has differing opinions- What do you mean by "better" than another show? That is totally subjective.
I think it's asinine to assume that anyone who loves this show hasn't seen enough theatre. I've seen almost everything currently playing on Broadway, (all the plays, and most musicals) and plenty of things Off Broadway. And I can't even count the amount of productions I've accumulated over the years; not just in New York City, but all over the world. The same is true for many of us. And, yes, I think Heights is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Punto y seguido. It's a matter of taste and opinions, and has nothing to do with how much theatre we've been exposed to.
(He'll likely be happily distracted by the success of Heights for a while; although it hasn't been announced, producers are mulling a future national tour, production sources told Playbill.com.)

Ditto to Testing. This is the LOVE thread for the show WE LOVE! If you don't LOVE it I suggest GET OUT! You a entitled to your opinion but if you are going to bad mouth this show be prepared to be bashed on this thread. And I'm sorry but ITH is better than Hairspray. Have you even seen it?
I saw on another thread you were saying you would gag if it won etc! You don't have to say that, nobody really cares. You could just say I would like to see [insert your show here] win. And the Book really isn't that bad, it's very simple and nice. It may not change your life but it's simple. nice, fun, and happy.
