The scenes shown in this video make the movie look spectacular. Fun, sex filled, and free. Everything "The Rocky Horror (Picture) Show" is supposed to be. After the little video snippet of The Time Warp they posted earlier this week, I was discouraged, but this just makes me so much more relieved and excited.
Christ, that looks terrible. Every ad they put out makes it look even worse than before. It's nothing but a cheap, dollar store knock off that has absolutely no idea what ROCKY needs to be.
How sex filled could it be when you force your Rocky into... boxers... not even tight boxer briefs, just boxers.
So is Frank just a woman in this version?
Amother new clip, this time showcasing Victoria Justice! I'm really missing the various "creature of the night"'s to Janet, but something tells me this isn't the final cut, as The Time Warp wasn't. Otherwise, I'm really liking Victoria's vocals.
I'm also wondering the same thing, Nowack. I feel like because of how far we've come with the understanding of gender identity since the show was created, it doesn't need to be as clear cut as male or female necessarily, but I'd like to hear what the creative team says. Because if Frank is a female, they'd need to change "I'm not much of a man" to actually fit what Frank is singing about in Sweet Transvestite. Otherwise, it doesn't...really make sense. I'm just glad they didn't change the lyrics.
Well that 'so called seduction' was just vile .Talk about the old 'modesty curtain' one wore back when and those[his] hands running all over her body like a demented piano player---just an early morning observation.
The full version of Touch-A-Touch-A-Touch-A Touch Me was just released, featuring Victoria Justice, Annaleigh Ashford, Christina Milian, and Staz Nair.
I love how Victoria starts in head voice and transfers to more of a belty tone towards the end. It particularly reminds me of Alice Ripley's interpretation. It's a nice blend of the stage version and the film version, I think. I don't love the omission of "You mean she?" "Uh huh," nor the omission of the Magenta/Columbia duet piece in the middle of the song. They left in Columbia's side of their duet though, and I appreciate that. Always ecstatic to hear more Annaleigh!! I've already mentioned not being a fan of cutting all the characters singing the end "creature of the night" part, but I wasn't expecting that to stay in, as the only version that's happened in was the film. I don't know, I'm pretty excited.
Bump! Anybody else want to put their two cents in? I'm curious to know what others think.
Perhaps it was a case of "if you don't have anything good to say.."
But that's giving the BWW community too much credit LOL!
W.T.F. was that?!?!?! It just gets worse and worse. Pure excrement.
Im really starting to think this whole thing is just a joke to see how awful something can really be and still have people tune in to watch it.
Victoria Justice should probably just stick to her day job, fighting evil.
EL OH EL Jordan. This whole "Rocky Horror" remake idea was misguided from day one. If they would have surprised me and done an excellent job with it I would have gladly eaten a slice of humble pie, but as it goes with every song and clip revealed it just confirms that this is going to suck hard. It's absolutely hands down THE WORST rendition of "Touch-a, Touch-a Touch Me" I have ever heard. It makes Susan Sarandon's version sound like Maria friggin' Callas. Sarandon may not be the most accomplished vocalist but she had one thing down pat with her rendition: she got the comedy, she played to Janet's sense of wonder and amazement and losing her inhibitions and giving in to her naughty side. All of that comes across. We have none of that in Victoria Justice's flat auto-tuned delivery/performance.
This production seems to just be a full-scale recreation of Glee's take on Rocky Horror, including Frank being played by a black woman.
^ ^ Susan's reaction after listening to it. ^ ^
Oh and now I see that the title has been changed to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again".
Yeah, umm...let's not!
The first 5 minutes will be live streamed tonight at 11:59 EST on Twitter (@rockyhorrorfox).
Wow, that was just crap, rubbish, awful, nearly unwatchable.

Well, she doesn't sound bad. I know a lot of people will convince themselves that she was awful only because they want her to be. I like that they pay tribute to the stage production by having an usherette sing the song.
Unfortunately, it looks like a 90s music video. The lip sync is a bit off, and the staging feels a bit off too. I don't think this will be the travesty that so many are thinking it will be, but I still wish they would have released the live version on DVD that was shown last year on BBC America. That was certainly more fun than this is looking to be.
Still, I will reserve my final judgement until I see the finished product. If it is terrible, I will likely head to the theater and catch a midnight showing the following Saturday. Thankfully, no matter what the outcome, the original will live on.
I didn't hate that clip, but it seemed waaaaaay too slow. I don't know if it's actually slower than other versions (definitely seemed slower than the Roxy version I listen to most) but it dragged or me.
As for her performance and the staging, I don't know there were times it seemed like it was about to take off and be exciting but it was overall just lifeless and kinda boring. Those backup singers could not sound less enthused it sounds like they're phoning in from a mile away.
IMO based on the clips shown so far it just doesn't have much life and is too "slick" to do justice to the material.

All good points. Truth be told, it's a TV musical, so I have nothing higher than TV expectations for it. It looks on par with just about every other TV musical that came out from the 90s on. It will probably be mildly amusing for what it is, and then be forgotten.
I don't care for this score to begin with. To catch my interest you need a star turn or eye candy. This version appears to have neither. I'll keep my memories of my college production where the cute men all ended up in g strings.

well I have been keeping my disappointments with everything from this to myself from the cast, the costumes, the set,...But I can't with the BOXER?? Does FOX not allowed speedos on air? I know my priorities.

It looks like the entire production budget was spent at Party City.
