It just keeps getting worse with every clip that comes out!!
Lol. How anyone can listen to that and say "Wow this sounds great!" Is just beyond me.
Well, that was just... awful..

I'm watching the movie right now..... I really feel like the only casting choice that'll seem right will be Reeve Carney.
This is god awful and I'm one of the very few who was cautiously excited.
It's amazing how they're able to make the original film look subtle and restrained by comparison.

I have really lost interest in these broadcasts. No matter whose cast, there is nothing interesting about them anymore. This is ridiculous and as for Hairspray. ahhhhhh! LOL NBC teenage's dreams

I thought the new clip was cute. There isn't anything particularly offensive about it. The vocals are decent. The costumes for Brad and Janet are fine. I can't really find anything to really complain about here.
Then you clearly didn't watch that clip.
So they attend a funeral now and not a wedding? Who died? Betty Munroe? Ralph Hapschatt?
Well Betty's got syph, so that probably killed her.
Considering how Brad and Janet are dressed, I think the mourners are just a way to get a chorus there.

Ha! Ha! I think Janet is the one who allegedly has syph.
Audience: Hey Janet, have you got syph?
Janet catches the bouquet and yells: I've got it! I've got it!
It's not bad. It's awkward because of the staging, but no, it isn't bad at all. Ryan's vocals are spectacular and Victoria sounds fine, too. She isn't using all she's got, but I guess a lighter tone up until she gets to Touch-A makes sense for her arch. Her end note is gorgeous though. The mourners were a mistake, but it was daring. I think it works better with just Magenta and Riff Raff on backup, but I guess with all of the moving Janet and Brad are doing, it made more sense to them to have more than just two people follow them around. It's a campy number to begin with, but they played the camp in the wrong places. The glove thing was funny though.
Cinders, you're right - it's not bad. It's TERRIBLE.
Theatre_Nerd - I grew up with this
"Yes, Janet. Ralph's a lucky guy"
(Shoutout "No he's not, she's got syph!"

Haha If the shorts are the number one thing you have to complain about, maybe it won't be that bad for you after all.
I didn't agree that the shorts do not match the period being satirized.
Well...Reeve Carney is no Raul Esparza.
I like it. The vocals from Reeve leave a lot to be desired, since my recording of choice is the one with Raúl, but the new arrangements are delicious. I do wish they kept Brad's verse, though.
The reaction GIFs on this thread (plus the Party City reference) are amusing me too much for my own good.
Is this still a thing? I thought it already aired and was quickly forgotten.
So what preview clip was streamed last night?
