Richard O'Brien isn't thrilled either. http://www.thisiscabaret.com/richard-obrien-new-rocky-horror-film-is-misconceived-and-badly-cast/
"There have been mixed reactions to the new film version of Rocky Horror. What’s your message to fans of the original who are not sure whether to see this version?
I think that it is a project that is misconceived and (sadly for the players) badly cast. The producer and director seem to have missed the point entirely. I will say no more as I may be tempted to say too much."
The things that made the original iconic and beloved aren't things you can just replicate.
And yeah, having a trans woman singing about how she's just a sweet transvestite makes me uneasy.
Part of the original's charm is that it was produced on a relatively low budget with a cast of largely unknown actors.
It is my understanding that O'Brien does not hold the cinematic rights to the show anymore. I think those were given away to Fox when the original film was made so he won't see a dime from this new version.
I like the new teaser, it had the right attitude.
Trans or not, Cox can't act and THAT is what's going to bring this whole unnecessary project down.
She's Emmy nominated. But even so, why are we acting like Frank-N-Furter is Hamlet? It requires looking sexily pensive with some intense facial expressions and some laughter.

OH HELL NO.

You've clearly never seen a crummy production of Rocky Horror.
Jordan, Cindy just recently announced that Carol Channing will play alternate to Bette Midler in "Hello, Dolly!" - you can't trust what she says. I doubt they'd change dialogue like that.
And to be fair, Kad, I haven't ever seen a crummy production. Let's hope this won't be my first.
We'll all still hate watch this.
Let's think of drinking games and offended hashtags instead?
No. Cindy did not announce that. Please read the article. She said it was just a rumor she had "heard". It was a pointless article for her to write but she did not in any way say that Carol Channing was going to be playing the role again.
I actually liked the promo but changing the dialogue.. Very skeptical again.
I really really really doubt it's true. We shall see.
This looks like a hot ass mess, and when it airs I am going to watch it and do a live Twitter feed and trash everything about it and everyone involved in it. An utter travesty!
Fun Home is closing in September, do we have enough time to remount the 2000 Rocky Horror Revival and air that live? Grab the cast, I'm sure most of them would be up for it.
I mean... is there a better production than this?
I honestly was prepared for the horror that would be the script after the travesty of the Glee's rendition...

I know Victoria Justice wasn't doing much but somehow even so she seems like the weakest link in this trailer.
that was terrible. so the movie will take place in a theater with the audience yelling out callbacks?? Do see this working.
I would welcome a new version if the basic elements that made the show a success in the first place were utilized. Dr. Frankenfurter is the character that, if you don't get it right, then it doesn't matter if the rest of the actors are fab. I agree with Kad and Jordan that the role of Dr. F. was miscast. I must agree. Adam Lambert would have made a perfect Dr. F., but I gather he wasn't interested in that role. In a time where we have seen some glaringly misguided film projects (the most recent Stonewall or the upcoming Nina Simone biopic come to mind), I believe that the producers missed the boat on this Rocky. More power to you if you like these casting choices.
Well, at least Annaleigh looks good.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that the audience isn't actually going to be in the film? I feel like it was just for the trailer. At least, I hope it is.

^That's what I was thinking/hoping. Or if it were just the intro to the movie, I could survive.
I just watched an interview from ComicCon on Facebook Live and here are some things that were said:
• The script hasn't had any changes.
• The Usherette (Ivy Levan) sings Science Fiction-Double Feature, to pay homage to the stage show.
• Both The Usherette and Eddie (Adam Lambert) sing the reprise of Science Fiction-Double Feature.
• The interviewer said the release date was Tuesday, October 27th, but take that with a grain of salt because she obviously isn't involved with the production.
• An exclusive clip will be played tonight at the panel for RHPS.
WHAT IS ROCKY WEARING AS HE RUNS DOWN THE HALL??? That is all kinds of wrong. I hope that isn't his "costume" for the whole show.
