Hi folks. I’m booked at the Row end of October. I have a confirmation. A friend went to book today and it’s showing no available dates past this weekend. Every date says NA.
I saw a recent review on TripAdvisor where the person said they showed up to The Row and were sent to another hotel “because of Covid.”
Anyone have any intel on what’s going on? I hope I have a room. No one has contacted me.

Whatever it is booking rooms starting again in May. Isnt this one of the hotels they are using to house migrants?
googled and found this. It is also in the NY Post...

Yes, it's still open but one floor (out of 28) will be converted into housing for struggling human beings from other countries.

I was aware of that. Totally cool with that. All the reports say one floor would be converted. I guess I just don’t understand how there are no rooms available until May if there are 27 floors left. Also why are guests being sent to other hotels when they show up?
I tried calling and got no answer.
Odd - I was just looking last week for a room for November - and had no issues seeing available rooms. I didn't book, because their prices seemed outrageous.

I just tried a few random dates and kept getting "no rooms avaiable" until May. I checked Google and found the following paywalled article https://therealdeal.com/2022/09/20/foreclosure-looms-at-struggling-row-hotel/ but only the headline (saying foreclosure was on the horizon) was viewable without subscription.
If it is in financial trouble, perhaps a contract with the feds to take over the whole premises is the "best bad option". I also see there were plans to house 600 migrants there- even with conversion, I don't think one floor would be able to handle that.

When it first reopened after the endless renovations, I stayed there often. The front desk was always the issue and it got worse each time. I always waited 45 minutes to an hour to check in, another 45 minutes waiting to check my bag. And then the elevators were so chaotic because they use that system where you type in your room number on a kiosk and then it tells you to wait at a certain elevator. It sounds effective but it never worked and it would often take close to 20 minutes just to get in and out of the hotel. I hope it does close and a new team can come in and operate it more effectively because the location can't be beat. Although with Phantom closing I suppose I won't need a hotel at that particular location anymore.
Just checked out this morning. Had no problem booking last minute. Used a discount site for State workers from my job so I don’t know if that made a difference- agree with the above statement regarding the elevators but everything else was as expected. Wasn’t aware a floor was dedicated to helping people in need while there - how wonderful.
It is off-topic but happened at the hotel. 45th was all blocked off this afternoon. Local news is not reporting it but I know people who were passing by when it happened.

OMG!!! I saw things blocked off as I was leaving and had no idea. How awful.

I watched local news at 11:00 and not a word about it. They also did not report on the accident that happened over there yesterday that ended the same way with them using hoses to clean the street.
That is so tragic. May that man’s soul Rest In Peace. Some of the press about the death state that as of Monday (when reservation issues began) 1000 rooms (of the 1331 rooms) have been reserved for migrants. That would explain it.
I do wonder how they will navigate this with guests as the hotel will also now function as many people’s home.

There are concerns reporting on suicide may push those contemplating suicide "over the edge" and commit suicide themselves.
