Could it be a tactic to get some slow moving Dylan fans into the theater?
I think though that the investors chance to get their money back is to release a dvd of the show with an added documentary about the whole project and why it became a flop.

Posted: 11/8/06 at 5:26pmIt was rumored months ago that "Sunday" would take the American Airlines Theatre, as AA is one of its producers I believe.

NO.
NO.
Ugh. That means no cast recording...and I'd really like one. Or does it? Any ideas why it's going to close? I mean, I'm pretty sure I'll get responses like "DUH, IT FLOPPED." But, still. And also Michael and Lisa out of jobs? That just really sucks, especially because I love them. Hopefully, they'll move on to bigger, and better things.

Posted: 11/8/06 at 5:31pmWow, unbelievably short run. Could tickets really be selling that badly? Or could it be the show was pushed out by the Nederlanders because they wanted it for something else? Hmm...

I admire the artists' willingness to be daring- even if the end result might fail. It would have been so easy to turn the songs into a Dylan biopic and scrabble for commercial success.
Every backer going in ought to know Twyla will hold to her vision, come what may.
Good luck to all in their nextprojects- I'll certainly want to see whatever Twyla comes up with next.

I'm not surprised. I thought it was a terrible idea when they announced it. I also think "The Wiz" will go into the theater. But this version of The Wiz is rather technical. I also wonder if it can break even in a small theater like the Brooks Atkinson. But it makes sense to put it there rather than fight for the St. James which everyone knows, Mel Brooks wants for "Young Frankenstein".
I wonder if the poster will be up at Joe Allen's.

At least In My Life had a giant cardboard lemon, musical terrets and floating kitchen complete with Italian Aria. That's entertainment to me.
This one was just boring...

Posted: 11/8/06 at 5:53pmIt seems like they aren't even giving some of these shows a chance nowadays. It's not really doing THAT badly in the grosses, there's no word-of-mouth about its quality to the general public at all yet.

Riiiight, they can just kick a show out because they feel like it. Look at the grosses, they were not going A-nywhere!
Maybe Twyla will answer more than "yes" and "No" next time she has to answer BWW questions, and be more humble...

It's not a new record, exactly.
This will make "Times" the original musical with the fourth shortest run on Broadway in the new milennium.
Amour [17]
One Mo’ Time [21]
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer [21]
Times They Are A Changin’ [28]
Squonk [32]
Lestat [39]
Marie Christine [42]
Lennon [49]
Look of Love [49]
Dance of the Vampires [56]
The ten shortest runs since the 2000 Season, in case anyone wondered...
