Drew Sarich- YAY!!!
Broadway Legend Joined: 4/16/05
A personal yay for Robert Hunt!
When I read the list, I was speculating that Megan could be covering Cosette and that Becca Ayres (whom I saw in The Last Five Years at SpeakEasy in Boston) might be covering Fantine. Anyone have any information regarding this?
I know Nicki Renee Daniels is an understudy for Fantine; but someone mentioned that there will likely be more than one understudy for each leading role. I have no idea.
I figured Becca Ayers would cover Mme. Thenardier.

That's how it's always been, unless they're in a cast transition. There are occasionally up to three people covering one role.

It does seem like they are going to adjust the understudy assignments. After seeing Robert Hunt play Javert so effectively, I can't see him as Valjean.
I am wondering if Marissa McGowan will be an Eponine and/or Cosette understudy even though she is going to be a swing. I know it has happened before, Dawn Younker was an Eponine understudy the first time she was a swing on the U.S.tour. I was a little disappointed that Marissa is going to be a swing, only because if a cast recording does happen, she will not have any solo lines. She did a good job with the lines she had when I saw the tour. I wish I could have seen her as Eponine, when I saw the show last weekend.
It will be interesting to see the understudy list.
I just noticed Megan McGinnis on the list. I'm assumiung she's probably going to cover Cosette. It just seems logical.
Also, Justin Bohon must be covering a role. Perhaps Marius and/or Enjolras?
Not that Ali Ewoldt won't be great and all...
But I'd rather see her Cosette.

I liked Ali's Cosette. I have never seen Megan McGinnis in any show, so I would know how she would be in the role.
Any ideas on who is going to understudy Eponine?
I think the female understudies will go like this:
Cosette...Farah Alvin
Eponine...Megan McGinnis
Mme. Thenardier...Becca Ayers, Karen Elliot
Fantine...Nikki Rene Daniels
Megan McGinnis has more of a Cosette voice than an Eponine voice, though I suppose she could cover both.
The only reason I say that, adamgreer, is because I really can't see Farah (as much as I adore her) covering the part of Eponine.

I would assume Dan Bogart would understudy Marius as he is the current National Tour Marius. Why are they having Robert Hunt understudy Valjean if we already know he is an amazing Javert?
Robert Hunt very likely is not understudying Valjean. They're obviously playing with the tracks, so Courfeyrac is not neccessarily always a Valjean understudy when it comes to the revival. Jeff Kready is understudying Valjean and playing Babet, when usally the Courfeyrac or Brujon tracks that do that.
Yes, Dan Bogart is understudying Marius. He says so on his site: http://www.mattbogart.com/danielnews.html

I'm guessing that Becca Ayers will join Nikki Rene Daniels as a Fantine cover, but the Eponine/Cosette covers aren't as clear...I'd estimate that either Megan McGinnis or Haviland Stilwell will fill the track that dual understudies Eponine and Cosette...I agree that Megan has more of a Cosette voice, but she's got the perfect look for Eponine, and I think she could handle it vocally. As far as the men go, Drew Sarich would logically be the first cover for Javert (Grantaire always is) and Justin Bohon would be a Marius cover...I have my fingers crossed for Marisa McGowan understudying Eponine (even though she's a swing)...I've heard great things about her.
McGinnis made a bland role memorable with Beth in Little Women, I'm thinking she would do the same with Cosette. I'd like to see her Eponine, though...
Heck, I'd love to have her do the dual-tracks understudy deal.
YAY for nikki rene daniels! (wow, that's a mouthful)
In the article, they forgot to add "Miss Saigon" for Norm Lewis and "UK Les Miserables" for Jennie Galloway. Cast looks good. I'm looking forward to this company. I was hoping they updated the stage design and blocking.
