It sure sounds like it's closing to me. I hope that's not the case, but if so, I hope everyone involved is able to move on with pride and know that they did the best with what they could.

It's the first time since JANUARY that Bono was in attendance. Since JANUARY. Oy.

My guess: They will close, temporarily, to revamp. Undisclosed re-opening. No promise of rehire. Jen Damiano will jump ship. Possibly Patrick Paige as well. It will never re-open. We will find Reeve Carney wandering the streets, years to come, still in his spidey costume.

So, someone "leaked" an e-mail to Broadway World. Check. Worded in a very odd fashion. Check. Why not announce what they have to announce right now? What difference does five more days make? By "leaking" the e-mail are they hoping for more box-office this weekend? Looking for more publicity? These endless machinations stink to high hell and the trials and tribulations of this show have only succeeded in one thing - becoming a first-class bore.

I am sure their making san announcement of making an announcement is a way to put a fire under the moneymen to come up with the cash needed to correct the show. Script Doctors are NOT cheap and I am sure there will be a lot of other expenses.

If they were hoping to make more money off of this announcement, I would have more sympathy if they sat out in front of the theatre with cute puppies and kittens threatening that they'll be homeless if I don't buy tickets.

It's not a bid for publicity- the cast /crew has been awaiting confirmation of a rumor spreading around backstage- this is the producers response- they are making decisions and will be able to announce mid week. It's not that bizarre or unprecedented an email

Thanks for answering my question, I knew someone here would know!

And I kind of wonder if "changes" (whatever they may be) are happening because Bono had an issue with the show? I mean if he hasn't seen it since January and comes back and is not pleased well that would be reason enough for something to happen, whether good or bad. Someone of his calibre does not want to look like an idiot because of this.

well, the show is scheduled to open in 11 days. It would really suck for the cast to find out days before that their opening is pushed to June, even if it's shut down for two months. Whatever decision comes about won't be good for the cast, yet I have to wonder how many are hoping they'll be able to jump this sinking ship.

A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. If anyone in the cast wanted out they could just turn in their notice-They aren't in bondage. I'm sure most would rather stay employed- and to that end why should they care if the opening is delayed? They get paid the same regardless

At some point they have to run out of dough, or at least the producers would say enough is enough. The 65 mil has to be a lot more by now.
They can't fire Taymor, seems they tried, but she will not be denied. Closing down to fix also seems to be not an option, if there was a way to fix it shouldn't someone have come up with it by now?
I think they are waiting till next week to let the cast and others know ahead of time, not to surprise them, whatever they are planning.

I totally agree about the "first-class bore" part, and ordinarily I'm as cynical as cynical can be (ask anyone - especially here), but I didn't come away from this article feeling like it was a deliberate plant. My feeling was that someone from the cast forwarded what was supposed to be a semi-private email and BWW ran with it as an "EXCLUSIVE".

(Just my feeling. Could be wrong. Don't really care.)

Have rumors really spread backstage? I'm not shocked or anything but if that's true then it seems like closing is the probable answer.

And I doubt they will close and then revamp and open. That would mean alot more money into this (and it's way behind 65 mil) and also the Foxwood owners most likely don't wanna hold the theater for them.

I have to say - the younger cast members in the limelight look ready to leave. During the Letterman appearance, Jenn Damiano looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. She was actually picking at her nail polish while the camera was on her...they quickly took a different shot, but it looked rough. I can imagine that edit room...It also looked like she thought Dave gave away some secret when he introduced her as Mary Jane Armstrong...Then again, she seems like kristen-stewart-awkward when it comes to media...

I thought Reeve Carney looked pretty tired, too...but then again, I can't imagine handling that hectic schedule well at those young ages.

TV Carpio seemed upbeat and seemed to handle the press and stress the best.

The entire cast must be beyond exhausted. I can't even imagine what it's like for them to do nothing but rehearse and perform this show almost every single day for how many months now.

To be honest, this all just kind of makes me sad.

It was entertaining and very much so intriguing at first. But all of this continued drama and confusion is just making me mildly upset. I just wish things could work out for the show. I know people have their hatred toward it, but it's never a good thing when someone falls flat on their face such as this. Very unsettling to me.

They have no intention of recouping on broadway. They're touring arenas.

They're shutting down, revamping, then reopening. As much as I HATED this show, I give them props for willing to fix problems.

Honestly, although it's probably not gonna happen... if they went on hiatus and came back as a new show, I really think it would work well for them. They gain a lot of press, get better reviews (because you know that people will want to re-review it), and then they're gold. (I would hope.)

Sure it's super expensive, but those producers have shoveled a ton of cash into that thing already. If they're willing to put that in, then let them. It's their money to manage. Plus, at the rate they're going, they'd probably be better off if they invested in the time off rather than have the initial $65+ million go down the drain.

^ I feel the same way americanboy. This should should, and possibly still could, be something great. I just feel bad for the cast and crew. I cannot imagine how exhausted they must be. I did not even think about the fact that as long as they are still in previews they are rehearsing during the day. I just hope this show can open with some dignity.
