Thanks to an anonymous source (ha!), I was given the heads up that Tina Maddigan would be covering the role of Julia Sullivan this evening. From the moment "the girl with golden hair" set foot on the stage, I was in awe. Tina has defined the role perfectly! She is beautiful, playful and endearing (plus, she's got legs!). She was in fine form and sang her heart out of those songs. Once again, Tina's effervescent personality shined through in this role. She has truly captured my heart...again!
Special shout outs to Tracee Beazer, Kevin Cahoon, Richard Blake, Felicia Finley and Amy Spanger who were all swell.
All in all, The Wedding Singer is a very fun and campy show. Unfortunately, the only song I can remember is "It's Your Wedding Day" and I can't get it outta my head. Nonetheless, I'd definitely give it a thumbs up!

Is it me or has Laura Benanti benn out...a lot?
No. Wouldn't this be her 2nd time?
especially compared to the lovely Mr. Lynch who has yet to miss a show
Plus, her sister WAS just in a car accident.
Trust me, you're in VERY good hands with Tina!
Wasn't Laura out for an entire week (I believe it was a Saturday to Saturday and she came back in an evening show) very recently?
I don't believe so. I just saw her this past Tuesday. I thought she was only out for that one Saturday?
Laura missed Memorial Day weekend and the week that followed.
What an "ahhhhhhhhhhhh" worthy review, Phantom2!
Hey, I'm a poet and I don't even know it, Tina Maddigain has the gift of pure joy when she performs. I am sure she was happy you were there to witness her in the show and watch out for Felicia, she's always looking to capture Phanty McPhantcakes!
I think I saw you there tonight, did you have on the scarlet cape and platinum blonde wig?

I remember hearing Laura was out for atleast 1 full week about a month ago and Tina went on. Last night wasn't her 2nd time performing.
Yes, Laura was out for a week because she was really sick.
I saw Tina in the role and I thought the whole thing fell flat with her - I found her interpretation very stereotypical and bland. Different strokes, I suppose.
If someone's looking to start another roundabout over Laura's track record, may I point out that Amy Spanger has also been very sick and out a lot?
But I'm glad you got to see Tina in any case, Phantom. :)
Tina was on again today. She was good. Her voice is great.
Benanti out? What? Shocker!
Being her standby must be the best job on earth. You always get work.
Oh, leave her alone. WE don't need debate number 50 on Benanti's attendance record.
Laura and I are lovers.
She can do no wrong.
Avatar change in her honor.

Laura's back in tonight. Give the girl a break. She's only human.
I found out Sunday morning that she would be on Tuesday so obviously this was a scheduled thing.
I saw Benanti at the Wedding Singer 3 pm performance on 6/11...on Tony Awards day.
I wish they would have cast Richard Blake as The Wedding Singer!
I hate seeing him as the bad guy. Personally, I think he would have been better as the Wedding Singer.
Loved him as Link.
