SIGNIFICANT OTHER to Announce Broadway Closing?

Wick3 said: "Anyone think that show might extend and go back to the Booth after Significant Other closes?"

They only said they wanted to add a few more weeks at the Hudson. I don't think they want to move to a new theater and become an open run...

I enjoyed the show and thought Glick was good, but I really had an issue with the protagonist being 29 years old. It would've had much more emotional heft had he been 39 and seeing his social group marrying off.

Please, no! One self-absorbed navel gazer followed by another on the same stage? Please, no no, no, no, no! The Booth Theatre deserves better. And so do we!

But fate has a way of not allowing us to escape that thing, so who we'd better brace for the worst.

Makes sense... then would 1984 move to Booth? My head is obviously biased since I really really hope Sunday in the Park with George extends past April 23rd but I understand there's little leeway given 1984's start of previews on May 18th!

Wow. Thx, broadwaybinge. I adore this show. I'm glad I bought my tickets thru TDF for the last show- $41/ticket. There is a fee of $4 on the total due. That makes it even with this new Rush ticket price but at least I won't be, literally, up against a wall, which is where the Rush seats are. TDF has given me good center seats.

Odd that they upped the price $8 for Rush for the last week. How much money can they make by doing this?

Anyway, enough with this talk. I'm sorry to see this show close. I do hope Gideon Glick gets a nomination. The small house last Sunday was sad but the audience was great. More laughter than I've heard.

1984 seems to be saying: we have a contract, a theater, and a plan to move into the Hudson, so GTFO Sunday. I'm paraphrasing. Maybe.

All I'll say is thank god they had an evening show today. I was at the matinee this afternoon and unfortunately the show was virtually taken hostage but a seniors group that was full of loud commentary and inappropriate noise almost non-stop. Thankfully I don't think they heard a lot of it, but at one point, just before (SPOILER) Grandma first mentions killing herself, there was loud yelling in some foreign language, followed by an equally loud explanation in English. Poor Gideon had to pause and look out at the audience for a few seconds with barely hidden anger and confusion. Thankfully though, the audience that actually wanted to be there was fantastic and responsive and them a well-deserved standing ovation.

No speeches sadly. But Gideon and Lindsay were teary-eyed. The audience was really great last night. The first time I saw it the house was half-full (if that) so it was great to see the show and hear a whole house laughing and a couple sniffles. Lots of support and applause. I'm very sad to see this go

I saw this Saturday night for rush after hemming and hawing and I'm so glad I did.

I found myself laughing quite a bit and also cringing at the bare and utter reality of what I saw on stage with myself and many of my friends. (Side Note: My name is also Jordan, and I am also gay, so I had double bonus cringing every time his name was uttered.)

The final scene was just absolutely heartbreaking to watch because I have felt similarly at watching my female friends end up in relationships and engagements as I stand alone. The line that hit closest to home was the line about how Laura's wedding ultimately means Jordan's "death".

I really appreciated how this play took the "gay best friend" trope and upended it to show that we aren't just a trope, but people with struggles and feelings in love.

Can anyone confirm is they were selling the script at the theater? I so desperately want to read this but the Samuel French website claims it's not published yet.

They also weren't selling them on Saturday either. They also were pretty much having a half-off fire sale. I got a poster and a t-shirt for $25.
