I have it on good authority that the Broadway production was supposed to be filmed and then fell apart days before filming because of financing, so I’d be surprised if this turned out to be true.
That being said, I would kill for a recording of this.

I imagine it's easier to film in London than on Broadway. Probably cheaper as most things are over there.

That's what I was thinking - there's probably a reason The SpongeBob Musical made its proshot in the UK instead of New York, and why the proshot of Kinky Boots is of the London cast instead of the Broadway cast. I remember there was also supposed to be an Aladdin: Live from the West End made for Disney+ that seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth.

It’s a shame the OBC wasn’t preserved. They were spectacular. However, attendance issues made catching the entire OBC like seeing a unicorn. Especially post Tonys.
Im still wondering what happened with the pro shot of Girl From The North Country. I’d much prefer that to a film. Mare broke my heart into a million pieces. I have no interest in Olivia Colman.

I assume GFTNC was looking for a distribute for proshot but I also wonder if the movie getting announced basically squashed it. Maybe they both will come out but it seems unlikely

Yes it is. Look at any other photo and they clearly darkened his skin to make him appear to be of Middle Eastern heritage.

Aladdin’s ensemble has always been “as long as you sort of look brown”- ethnicities have ranged from Italian to Filipino and only occasionally have actually been Middle Eastern.
