Liza definitely seems like great choice if she was in better health.

Lorna Luft would be a great choice too for the same reason as Liza but she’s not as well known as her sister is. I’ve always wondered if she’d appear as Morrible on Broadway.

I'd still love the Morrible role to go to Julie Andrews, that would be a dream come true.

I think it's probably more likely to go to the likes of Pfeiffer though. There are a few great actresses that would suit. I imagine they'd reach out to Meryl though she doesn't like witch roles.

Here is a mad thought, Angelina Jolie has been spotted numerous times going to see Wicked over the years and certainly has the acting chops to pull of the dual personality Morrible needs.

Minnie Driver for Morrible?

Throwing this out there because it hit me last night.

Let me preface this by saying that my #1 choice for Fiyero is Jordan Fisher, but with the casting so far, I'm afraid that he may read too young to play opposite Cynthia. But if I can't have Jordan as Fiyero:

Andrew Garfield?????

He recently said that he wanted to do more movie musicals. I feel like he would read beautifully opposite Cynthia. The Jon Chu and LMM connection. I feel like he would do the role justice and could realistically be in contention.

I have been wondering if he now feels like an even more viable option than ever. Not to mention that he has proven before that he can convincingly play characters younger than his actual age. He was not only in his mid-30s when he played a man on the verge of turning 30 in tick, tick...BOOM!, but he was also in his late 20s when he first played teenaged Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man. So it shouldn't be too much of a problem for him to play a college aged Fiyero in the first half.

Garfield as Fiyero is a great idea

I think Andrew Garfield is a bizarre choice. He’s literally old enough to be the father of most college freshmen. I realize that Fiyero has been kicked out of many schools, but not THAT many. I also realize that they’ll probably justify Cynthia’s age by stating that she is much older than Nessa and was only sent to Shiz to keep her eye on her, but not THAT much older. They need to hire an actor who still has the ability to play in his 20s but can also be a worthy opponent to Cynthia without looking like Ariana’s father. I still think Jeremy Pope would be the best choice.

Jennifer Coolidge for Morrible. Or Hannah Waddingham, Julie Andrews, Liza (in a dream world).

Whoever said Jeremy Pope for Fiyero, YES. Alex Landi too.

Keep in mind, these people are only in college for the first act. During the second act, college is no longer a plot point. They could be five to ten years out of college when the second act starts. Andrew Garfield, who is not yet 40, can certainly play a character between 25 and 35.

It’s odd that you think that just because the second half of the movie takes place a handful of years after the first that it doesn’t matter how they all look in the first half. This is not a stage show where the audience is 50 feet away from the actors and wigs and makeup can hide age. Garfield is turning 39 this August, and I believe they are going to start shooting this summer. He is not Fiyero.

Only his fans are aware of him.  Takes more than a unnoticed Tony Award nomination to be remotely considered.

Not in any universe. Derek is awesome but completely unknown, as are most of the suggestions in this thread.

If they're going off the book Fiyero will be a POC. I can see them wanting to respect that especially with how they've went about casting Nessa and Elphaba.

It'd be a shame to take away the chance to offer roles that allow for representation, I still get sad when I think of the ratio of famous white actors I can name compared to BAME ones. I think they should cast this film like they did with Cinderella back in the 90s.

Fiyero’s too thankless of a role for a prestige leading man like Garfield. Plus he’s not really the playboy type, dreamy as he is in his own way. If he’s got the vocal range, Regé-Jean Page has my vote for Fiyero.

Sidebar, anyone else curious what the accent situation will be? Do we think they’ll make Cynthia do a standard America dialect? They made Kerry Ellis do one when she played the role on Broadway. Meanwhile, Carole Shelley’s Morrible was English in the OBC and no one batted an eye. I wonder if they’ll just let everyone use their natural accents like in the Into the Woods movie.

He can't sing, so nope.

I would love it for it to be Anthony Ramos. He will be a household name after Transformers comes out and he's a Latino man who can sing beautifully. Diversity is a beautiful thing and I would like to see as much as it as possible in this film.

Ariana Grande posted Oz books on her IG. She's doing research for the role of Glinda.  https://www.instagram.com/p/CZPfBREpZZK/

Yes, he can sing.HERE is a clip of him singing with his band. He has the ideal range for Fiyero. In my opinion, Ramos is not the right type for this role. He’s a little too rough around the edges and not easy enough of the eyes.

Uhhhh.....Anthony Ramos is sexy as hell and can sing. Really actually. Like on Broadway. But, sure.
