Joining her will be Elizabeth Stanley, seen most recently on Broadway in Jagged Little Pill and who played April in the 2006 revival of Company; and one of Broadway's favorite leading men, Tony Award winner Santino Fontana, along with Douglas Sills, Eddie Cooper, and Michael Mulheren. It is directed and conducted by MasterVoices Artistic Director Ted Sperling.
Considering there are now 3 cast recordings of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE (the OBC, the 90s concert with Peters/Kahn/Bakula, and now the Jay Records album with Julie McKenzie & Maria Friedman) I highly doubt anyone is going to put up the money for yet another WHISTLE album, which is always going to be a niche thing.
Aside from wheelchair/companion seats, the only available seats going by the Carnegie Hall website are $15-$30 tix in the top two levels. It would be silly to discount those further or put the show on TDF.

I hope you're wrong, as this sounds like a dream cast, and a recording is the only way I'm likely to encounter it.
Am I remembering correctly that they brought the ENCORES cast into a studio, recorded a full album, and it has been locked up in a vault somewhere?? (Possibly due to funding or Arthur Laurents?) That's the dream cast for me, vocally speaking.

Well, that's depressing. Hopefully at some point we'll get, as Dr. Frank-N-Furter would say, "One from the vaults."

Lol sadly not. You’re thinking of the Jay Records album that actually recently was unlocked after 20 years and available now. It’s good, but it’s nothing like the Encores! cast. Donna Murphy was so good in the role.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Obviously there's no telling how much narration there'll be but do you think it's necessary to read the wikipedia synopsis, listen to the album, etc. before the concert or is the story decently easy to follow from the songs?
I'm guessing it's probably gonna be very similar to the Bernadette Peters Carnegie Hall concert version (which also included narration), in which I don't think any prior knowledge is really necessary. But the story can get a bit convoluted so it might help to read up a bit beforehand (there's a couple plot twists if you want to avoid that though)
The book of the show is a mess so you will never fully understand it in my opinion but it’s part of the charm.

Don't agree. I'm assuming you've read the script? It isn't great, but I don't think it's a mess, and it's very easy to follow. The big criticism of the show from those originally involved (including Angela Lansbury) was that what starts out as a scathing critique turned into a conventional uplift story. I think Lansbury said the audience expected a phenobarbital and wound up getting an aspirin.

I reread the wikipedia page. I don't know if I totally understand how the romance fits in but hopefully it'll make sense with everything else.
Apparently it's going to be recorded according to playbill. Unsure if that means soundboard or video..I assume it means video.
